best ranges weapons on a flying HT ?

ok so i am kitting out a HT for a game this weekend :

Hive tyrany, TS, , wings ,hive commander , twin linked
devourer ( brain leach worms ), regeneration , lash
whips/bone sword.
Leach essence , Paroxysm

my question is what is the best choice in ranged weapons for a flying hive tyrant .
HVC and Strangle horn cannons are both blast template weapons and can't hit flyers . but can do good damage to ground troops and vehicles .

TL deathspitter is TL devourer ar BS based weapons . and can hit fliers .
the death spitter TL st5 ap5 Assault 3 or the devourer with TL st6 ap- assault 6 .

I am leaning toward the Devourer with brainleach worms because of the st6 and 6 twin linked shots I am thinking will be better against flying vehicles than the deathspitter .

Twice the shots and higher S, mean the devourers are always superior to deathspitters. Always.

The benefits of the long range guns mean you can stay out of rapid fire range but your Tyrant becomes a lot less worthwhile.

Go with the devourers. The real question is, can you afford and do you need 2 pairs?

I would advise two pairs of TLDevs, and to drop Regen. Think hard if you need HC. I like OA better than TS.

How far does the devil-loving extend? Is a Devourer better than the 5 points more for a Deathspitter on Primes?

The infantry devourers aren't as good as the MC version, while the deathspitter is always the same.

I don't understand why anyone would ever take a Deathspitter when it costs exactly the same as a Devourer.

Deathspitters suck ass on MCs, take them on ur warriors.
use the devourers on the tyrant because ap- has no debenifits anymore.
EDIT: also, HC sucks ass now because you cant assault after outflanking.

For a flying Hive Tyrant I would take two twin-linked devourers and nothing else as far as ranged weapons go. Old Adversary is pretty much a must but if you get that then toxin sacs wouldn't be worth it. Only get hive commander if you have lots of reserves. Lashwhips/bonesword is okay but since you're initiative 5 already, you go before alot of stuff and would only help if you charge through difficult terrain. I always avoid close combat against stuff that can rip my tyrant apart (I rip them apart with hoard units like gaunts, and genestealers or mass shooting) so lashwhips are not necessary.

Someone asked about deathspitters or devourers on warriors and I would say that deathspitters all the way, even without the prime attached.

Depending on how you use the flyrant, it could get focused down pretty hard so regen wouldn't go off in time if he dies in one round of shooting. But I would never take regen on a flyrant.

Heavy venom cannons or stranglethorn cannons would be good for foot slogging tyrants and use the stranglethorn against hoards and the venomcannon against vehicles. Pretty straight forward.
