Utilizing the Trygon

In the past, I've been disappointed by my trygon's performance. However, I think this can be attributed to my usage of him, as well as my previous army lists. I'm trying to put together a list where they can shine, particularly with a T6/3+sv saturation, as well as including 2 rather than a single trygon for redundancy. What strategies do you usually use when running trygons? Do you prefer deep striking and withering a turn of fire? (into area terrain? how about when using a SL/HC for the +1 to reserves?) Do you run them up with fleet and hope for the best? I have yet to be impressed with the unit, despite being in love with the model and the idea of an army with as many MCs as possible... Change my mind!

I've said many times on this forum, I love my trygon, I normally get a good result, if I deep strike it to their table edge objective. It causes utter confusion. If they have too many forward it can clear away, and if they've sat back it'll give you more time to get into position. I use SL as well like you say so that gives me 2+ reserve rolls. The tunnel thing is a bit of a waste of time though

The only time I've ever lost a Trygon without accomplishing great destruction with it was when I charged a brood of Termagants with a Tyranid Prime with them with dual boneswords, forgot that I no longer got +1 Initiative on the charge (This is the only thing that really annoys me about Trygons, they should definitely be I5) and got instant-deathed by said prime straight away. Other than that, they've always run rampant through a couple of squads at least, wrecking the face of anything they come into contact with.

A lone unsupported Trygon will die miserably without doing much. Whether you deep strike him it not. However, if you apply proper Target saturation... He has much better odds of causing the destruction we all know he can.

Team him up with threats that force your opponent to choose... Do they shoot the Trygon, or all of the other madness you've brought down on their heads?

I run 2 right up front with FnP from 2 tervigons on them and rarely do I ever deep strike them do to the not doing anything when they do arrive so in the end I'd rather have my tervigons alive pooping gaunts that win games and tie up the mean things.
Having AG's for the +1 Initiative was my fave thing about them sadly no more but looking on the bright side poison got better.
