1750 Tournament List - Feedback?

Hello Hive, been lurking for some time and finally made my leadership test to regroup and register

Have a tournament in a few weeks and would welcome feedback / suggestions for this list as I don't quite have all the models and may need to get a few. Tournament will be 5 games over the course of a weekend.

Mawloc (170)

Basic deployment is one Tervigon, HG, plaingaunts hide behind gargoyle screen. 10 gants sit on an objective if near by. Based on opponent may deploy HT or deep strike with the three spores. Mawloc to TFtD any fortifications that might show up else distract some fire. Spores DS into oppenents back field and Daka away while second Tervigon outflanks.

I thought of replacing Mawloc with Trygon Prime, but then would need to drop devigants which usually do well for me landing near an objective an eliminating any troops sitting on it. I usually use a DoM in pod but was not able to fit him in, looking for more heavy shooty list for when land in turn 2 with units that can hold up in CC.

On the Hive Tyrant - Lose Toxic Sacs and Regeneration (if he is going to die, he will die) and Toxic Sacs you may have Iron Arm so you will be hitting on 2+ any majority of the time.

I would be also most likely change the Mawloc, not a massive fan of the model.

See what that does to the list.

I like the mawloc but agree on losing the Toxic sacs and Regen, maybe put toxin sas on the Gargoyles though.

If I loose TS and Regen on HT then could pick up 5 more gargoyles.
With the gargoyles out front they usually get shot first, so 5 more might help them last long enough to kill something. FnP from back field mom bug might also be good on them then and then go for two biom powers on the outflanking mom bug.

HT would be my warlord, so I don't want him to die
(at last poor HT, I knew him well)

If not Mawloc what else might be good for this list, DoM in Pod?
DoM usually has done good for me.

Looks like a solid list after you make those changes, You should do well, if everything goes according to plan! Rarely do people expect the outflanking Tervigon!

Drop the Mawloc for a Doom w/ Spore. Make the other changes suggested above. You can use the 40 points to add AG to your Tervigons and TL Deathspitters to your Mycetic Spores. Just a thought.

My question is what is the role of Gargoyles in this list? Are you moving the Tervigons up behind the screen of Gargoyles? Are they a fast harassment unit? I like Gargoyles, but have found that for them to be a real threat, they need TS/AG. Also, they can easily become a "First Blood" KP for your opponent if you're not careful.

I use the gargs to create a wall up front in front of Terv, H.gaurd and 1st unit of gants to get cover and draw fire from deployed Terv. So I run them plain as they are usually the 1st unit shot and and go quick. Any left move up to see if they can do something.

I ran the above list at local GWS yesterday against a Tau player. Worked good and tabled him on turn 5. Both tervs survived along with pods, carnefex, HG, devigants and still had plain gants camped on objectives and two gargs left. His warlord got the -1 to my reserve roll (ouch) so actually both carnefex did not come in until turn 4. HiveT died as Illithid predected, so am changing list per the suggestions.

Mawloc DS on to ADL with quad gun, but missed, second DS he cleared out an objective for some gants to camp. So did so-so, landing a Dom I think would have emptied the ADL fairly quick.

After some updates I added a trygon prime to the list and reduced devigants. But I think now that DoM would go better and I like to get TL-DS on the pods if I can. Thought of trygon prime for any lists with ruins of warding eldar and such, but DoM can do that also.

Speaking of DoM, had an epic game against SM where DoM really was MSV. The turns went on with lots of killing from both sides.
SM dropped a combat squad with librarian on far table edge objective out of range of any of my units. So dropped the DoM on them. Pod ate one marine, DoM ate three. The DoM large blast then takes out another two. The shoot DoM next turn and think only get one wound and then fail the charge role. DoM leaches again and finishes off rest except Librarian which then fails check and falls back. DoM then escorts him off the board.

Meanwhile rest of both armies dwindle with his last Dreadnought chasing after my last unit of gants. DoM races across the board and dodges fire from the two remaining drop pods.

The dreadnaught reaches the gants in CC and starts to dwindle there numbers. DoM unable to shoot the dreadnaught as it is in CC sees the nearby drop pod and shoots at it looking to scatter. The dice gods were with DoM and the large blast scatters off the drop pod and onto the dreadnaughts back side. Takes out the dreadnaught and the remaining gants. DoM gets a few wounds back from the gant and game ends being draw with no one holding any objectives and DoM and two drop pods left.
