Flying rippers an effective anti-tank?

Sky-slashers are weak, muti-wound models usually designed for tying up or distraction purposes, yet quite recent I've started using them for destroying light vehicles.

equiping them with adrenal glands is very useful.

Going from strength 3 to 4 enables them to strike rear armour 10 with glancing hits and due to the fact rippers can dish out a massive amount of attacks, it will be what to opponant least expects.

furthermore there ability to recieve a much better coversave than their fellow nids ensures more of their numbers remain intact or even better, if the opponant can't see them at all they can't even be targeted.

yes, hive guard are nice, but with the lack of genestealer outflanky-spanky-ness I've resulted to using ymgarls and usually fill out my eiltes with zoans anyway. but yeah...

say 5x skyslashers start right on the edge of the deployment line, turn one, move 12", hide away, turn two, move 6", Attempt to assault 12" with re-rolls due to being jump-infantry.

4 attack standard, 1 for charge, 1 for Hammer of Wrath, times 5.

25 attacks to glance to death on a 6, I like those odds, not bad for 75 points.

The Good: I kind of like it. I have used gargs in the same capacity. They have the speed to get to the vehicles, and tend to be a low priority target for your opponent.

The Bad:
HoW attacks will be at S3, so they will not help. (Not sure if you were saying they would or not.
Since HoW doesn't help against vehicles, you would be better off moving 12", and assaulting without the rerolls. (And don't forget, the reroll is all or none, not the same as fleet.)

The Ugly: You will likely need more than 5. 25 attacks at 3+ 16 hits. Means 3 Hull Points about 40% of the time. (Estimate, not calculated)
Gargs are cheaper 'per attack' on the charge (7 pts for 2, vs 19pts for 5) And they have the advantage of more models when you want to surround that transport so a wreck kills everything inside.

They would make a good cheap overwatch sponge for shrikes though, was it an older edition where swarms gained stealth for a constant cover save?

Yeah, I'd rather use Gargs for this as well but they still make good overwatch sponges for Shrikes. If they wouldn't eat themselves I'd use them for other things.
