Tyranid Psychic powers rules clarification

Hey all,
so I finally got a 6th edition rulebook yesterday(read the whole thing in one sitting too, but it was kind of a "fastread"- lower chance to retain info).

Anyways, I'm reading about psychic powers and realize I needed info, so I go digging for a FAQ and the tyranid one seems to suggest we can replace any purchased psychic power on our psykers with the roll chart powers(I'm not sure I would based off reading most of them, but that's besides the point).

Am I interpreting that correctly? Sorry, it just seemed too simple and well written, something as a returning 40k gamer I'm not used to.

Oh also, would a squad of zoanthropes have a single warp charge or one per zoan?

1) if you choose to replace your powers, you have to replace all of them and that includes the ones you purchase. so a tervigon get 1 base power with a max of 3 if you purchase the extra 2. if you decide you want to replace 1 of the powers you have to replace them all. each power can be from a different table though (of the 3 we can roll on).

2) zoans get 1 charge per zoan and they can all have different trees.

Synapse is a special ability and not power. If you do trade in powers you will lose Dominion (the power they start with).

For example the Doom's Spirit Leech ablity is a special ablity as is his Warp Field. He can not trade them in. The only power he has is Cataclysm. That one he can trade in.

Standard Zoan would have to trade in both Warp Blast and Warp Lance, but they keep Synapse and Warp Field.

No! Synapse is not a psychic power, but an abilty for certain creatures.

A tervigon has one power to start with (Dominion? - the one that gives 18 inch synapse range) and can opt to buy two more. Catalyst and Onslought. If you want, you can decide to swap *all* of his powers for rolls on the Psychic tables found in the Big rule book.

The downside is, that you are never sure which powers you get.
The upside is, that you can choose to swap powers at the beginning of the deployment phase, so it gives you a chance to change your powers depending on the army you are facing.

It is very important to remember that a Tervigon can still only use one power in his turn, no matter how many you buy for him.

It is also important to recognise what psychic powers are and what psychic abilities are.
For example: A Zoanthrope could swap his Warp Blast and his Warp Lance for two rolls on the Telepathy table, but would still keep Warp Shield. (and Synapse Creature and Shadow in the Warp)
Another example: The Doom of Malantai could Swap Cataclysm for a BRB power, but will still keep his Spirit Leech.

Paying for Catalyst and Onslaught gives me the ability to switch them for two randomly generated powers instead at no further cost, i can also opt to randomize a power to replace Dominion if i wish?

Yes you can swap powers you paid for in addition to the ones it comes with. However if you choose to swap you must swap ALL your powers (if you bought the other 2 then you get 3 rolls on whatever table combination you want.)

Just remember if you roll the same power twice on the psychic chart you get to reroll it, and thus not worry about getting something like Iron arm twice and not having any flexibility in your powers (Though if I could get iron arm twice, I totally would )

i say. take another sitting and read the whole book again try reading slower and retaining info this time. that seems useful.
