Hey guys,
Ok this is the first battle report that i have ever written so please bear with me, i will list out my army and my apponents then take you through turn by turn on what happened.
Ok my army is themed it is based on the Athelion Project using only flying nids and tunnellers, i have a name for the army it is 'Sarge...its to quiet.......'
As if the Imperial Guard are looking across the battle lines and can see nothing, then from the skies and the earth the attack begins.
All Hormagaunts are the Gargoyle models with Scything talon arms, wings represent fleet
I wanted the army to be as melee heavy as possible.
Well here is the list.

I managed to role the out flanking warlord trait which i didnt use. he got counter attack in his deployment (bugger
Mission was 2 objectives 1 in each deployment, mystery objectives didnt yeild anything for me, opponents was +1 cover.
I set up first covering the whole of my deployment zone with winged nids
Opponent didnt manage to steal initiative.
Turn 1,
My basic goal was to get in his face as quick as possible so moving all units forward maximum distance, i took off from behind my Bastion with the hive tyrant and flew 24 inchs gaining the bonuses for flying
I also ran with everything, guns from the Gargoyles not being in range yet, i forgot about the blast template from the zoans so forgot the 24 inches of frazzling goodness from each of those.
My only shooting was from the bastion which has a unit of 10 vanilla Hormaguants stationed inside.
Skyfire laser hits the landraider, penetrates and rolls a 1, rounding up to a 2 means he can shoot or move, his extra armour helps him here and he can machine spirit 1 gun and snap fire the rest, i really wanted him to blow up dammit!
His Turn one,
Moved all of his troops forward not full distance mind, sneaky bugger.
One set of Bikes and the tornados opens up on the right flank, unit of gargoyles is taken down by 6, pretty lcuky for me could have been a lot more.
Other unit of bikes moves down the center and opens up on some hormies, being in a crater they get a saving throw which helps a lot as the land raider decides that they are a juicy target. I loose 5, again lucky.
I loose 3 more gargoyles from the unit of termies in the center.
Machine spirits 1 set of hurricane bolters at the hive tyrant, (assault cannon cannot see) didnt even scratch the bad boy

Turn 2,
Reserve rolls i make 3 rolls for the 3 trygon primes, i get a 2, 5 and 6.
Great stuff, 2 Primes down
First on hits bang on target behind a unit of bikes, second scatters 12 inchs!!! middle of terrain piece (i didnt know it at the time but what a stroke of luck)
Movement, i move everything forward again, max distance, finally in range with the gargoyles for shooting and hopefully assault.
Tyrant wanders over to Sammel and decides to bite his head off.
Second unit of gargoyles moves up the center to the bikers with the prime behind them.
Shooting,
I fire my remain gargoyles at the unit of bikers on the right flank, 4 hits, no wounds (damn T5 marines containment spines from the prime in terrain fire at the bikes taking 1 out, and the zoanthrope on the right lances one into dust. (Once again i forgot about the blast lance)
Prime in the middle opens up with his spines and misses them all, Yep all 12 shots missed! Gargoyles managed to take 1 wound of the 2nd attack bike.
ASSAULT
Gargoyles on the right take another 2 casualties from over watch, then smash into the bikes, 3 casualties from the middle session.
I manage to kill a total of 3 bikers from both gargoyle combats, the right unit now have a total of 3 left and the middle have 2 tied him up for his combat next turn tho
Tyrant charges Sammael 7 attacks at s7 smashed 2 wounds off him, his paltry little blade barely dents the tyrants chitlin shell, no wounds taken, (fearless units/ characters are a (please do not swear))
His turn 2,
He moves his landraider upto a crater and disembarks his belial load next to the sammael smash up.
He moves his tornados back ready to fire on one of the primes.
Bikes are locked in combat, termy squad is in terrain next to his objective.
Shooting, landraider opens up on the hormaguants on the left, to my utter amazement he didnt kill a single one!
Torandoes take 2 wounds off the prime, leaving him on 4. Terminators shoot and miss, must be firing blanks.
Combat, belial and his unit charge into combat with the tyrant, i offer a challenge to sammael hoping to freeze belial out of combat no such luck sammael backs down and buggers off.
Gargoyle combat does not yeild a single wound on the bikes, but they manage to get them self slayed, yes both units
Tyrant combat i manage to slay the apothocary in the unit no feel no pain saves for you mr belial, but with his banner and the warlord trait his lightning claws get 5 attacks on the charge hitting me with 15 slicing talons. they take 2 wounds of the beast, with the two thunder hammers finishing the job.
He wins that combst, just in time for my trygon next turn (snigger
My Turn Three,
Failed my reserve roll for the third Trygon
Ok so now i decide to make a play for his objective, i start moving the prime in terrain forward, i get 3 and 6 for difficult terrain move 6 inchs bringing my withing sticking distance of the termiators and the objective.
I now decide to move the unit of Hormagaunts on the right towards the same objective. moving them into the terrain the prime just moved from.
My second trygon will be firing and tying up beliel
I carry on moving forward as much as possible, my large unit of Hormaguants on the far left have been untouched by fire and are sneeking up behind beliel through terrain, accompanied by a 3 zoanthrope.
Shooting, i decide to shoot the bastion at beliels unit, the skyfire laser takes out 1 terminator and the heavy bolters another, My Prime takes off 2 wound from beliel with containment spines, (opponant choose to take them from him, perhaps he didnt want to loose any more termies)
My Zoanthrope on the left, aims his huge brain at the landraider, passes his psychic test and obliterates the now empty raider, a cataclymic explosion of 1 inch harms nothing else
The second termy squad take 1 casualty from the containment spines on the second prime.
Assault, I assault the unit in terrain with the objective with the Prime on the right, he looses a wound to lucky over watch shooting, down to 4, i take out 3 with my scything talons and take no wounds from the fists, i was shocked as well. he missed most rolls to hit.
2nd Trygon bashes into beliel, I manage to take 1 more terminator with me before getting pummelled into the ground.
His third turn was spend manovering his pieces for a final counterstrike, middles set of bike turboboost over to my side of the board next to my objective which is right behind my bastion,
His tornadoes kill of 5 or the hormagaunts in the terrain.
His unit of Bikes on the right back away to thier board edge hoping to avoid the trygon creeping towards them.
Turn 4
Third trygon lands in the middle of his deployment zone, direct hit with the scatter (thank the hive)
The large unit of hormagaunts on the left flank move further towards Belial they are now withing striking distance
I move the third Zoanthrope towards my objective and the juicy bike squad
I move my Hormagaunt squad to the top of the bastion so they now contest the objective, and they will move down to assault the bikes next turn.
The Hormaguant unit on the right move out of cover and over to my opponents objective.
Shooting,
My Zoanthrope take out 3 bikes with his blast template Woot great shooting)
Trygon near belial shoots but does no damage.
Assault.
My hormaguants charge into belial with 45 attacks re rolling 1s to hit and 1 2 3 to wound
I manage to score 23 wounds and he looses two more terminators. only belial left now.
Belial smashes 4 hormagaunts to bits.
My trygon on the right wipes out the remaining terminators and consolidates a massive 5 inches towards his retreating bikes.
His turn 4.
He moves his bike squad on my side toward the zoanthrope that just pasted them to get rapid fire.
Shooting,
He unloads on the zoanthrope and kills it with weight of fire.
His 1st tornado fires at the prime and takes it down to 1 wound, the other takes out more of the hormagaunts on the objective leaving only 3 to claim.
Combat is quick, he smashes 4 more hormaguants leaving 7 i make no wounds,
Turn 5
My Hormaguants in the bastion roll 6 5 4 for difficult terrain and get to the bottom,
My 3rd prime moves closer to belial, the 1ST prime rolls a 5 and 4 for terrain and makes it out close to the unit of bikers and SAMMAEL. (my opponent for got he had him hidden behind a building, who am i to correct him right
Shooting, my bastion fires its lazer on auto at the kie squad next to it and pops one, 3 left.
trygon 1 fires at the other bikes and take 2 out, 3 left for him to deal with.
Combat.
The hormagaunts near my bastion and objective hit the bikers taking 4 wounds from over watch (damn flamers) the procede to smash the bikers to pulp having no synapse and getting rage.
I now have my objective covered, after rolling a 4 for consolidate and moving right on top of it.
My trygon moves in for the kill on belial and does nothing!!! thats right nothing, the hormaguants also do nothing, but take another 4 wounds. Belial is still on 1 wound.
The 1st Trygon smashes into the bike squad, not 6's from him for overwatch this time, the trygon just walks all over the bikers and make a nice snack for him self, consolidating 1 inch toward sammael.
His Turn 5,
Movement
He decides to move Sammael into the terrain to try and contest the objective with 3 hormagaunts on it.
He Rolls 1 for difficult terrain and then 1 for his saving through, Sammael just killed him self by flying into a WALL ha ha ha ha.
His Tornados fire in on the hormaguants on his objective, they unload everything inly killing 2, 1 left, that still claims that objective.
Assualt.
Belial has made a valiant stand thus far can he prevail, errrr no he kills another 4 hormaguants, but the trygon smashes him with 6 attacks and 6 wounds these things are beasts, he fails 4 of his saves and gets chomped.
Wow, this was a great game, 3rd turn i thought i had lost it, my boys dont shoot but boy do they shine in combat,
We worked out victory points and i won 8-2
My man of the match was Prime number 1, lasted the whole game, 1 wound left and took out a whole terminator squad on an objective and then smashed up the bikers, what a trooper.
I could have done some things differently but hey ho you live and learn.
This by the way was only my second game with the nids, but i can assure you it will not be my last. COME ON THE HIVE!
