Hey Hive,
I had a double battle this evening at my LGS, it was Nids/Nids vs Chaos/Chaos, due to time constraints we only managed to finish turn 3. It was 2000 points (1000 for each person). The game was Crusade in which there were 3 objectives in total. Deployment was Vanguard (the diagonal one) and chaos won the roll off to go first. Chaos chose the side which had the most objectives but had a smaller deployment zone than Nids for some reason.
The lists were roughly;
Chaos 1: Demon Prince (Tzeentch) 2x 10 berserker squads, 2 defilers
Choas 2 Demon Prince (Slaanesh) 4 x tactical squads (whatever the chaos equvilent is), an Obliterator and a Havoc squad carring four heavy bolters.
Nids 1 (me): Flyrant TL Dev x 2, TS Hive guard x 3, Genestealers x 10, Termagants x 12 Tervigon - CC, AG and TS and Warriors x 5 ST, RC TS
Nids 2: Flyrant with OA, hive guard x 2, 2 squads of 30 hormaganuts with TS i think and 3 zoanthropes (1 x 2 and one on its own)
My list was pretty poor as i had to make it on the spot. the genestealers infiltrated to within 18" of a defiler. (in cover of course)
Chaos Turn 1
Movement Phase All the marines moved forward, havocs, oblits and defliers sat still. Demon princes swooped.
Shooting Phase Defliers fire their battle cannons and auto cannons and marines shot the genestealers. My friend only lost 3 gaunts whilst my stealers which had over 20 bolt guns fired, moved out of cover by lash (rolled an 8"), a flamer template from second demon and a plasma cannon shot annilhated them. No assualt phase,
Nids Turn 1
Movement Phase All my army moved forward bar the hive guard, i made my first mistake here and didnt spawn termagants as i underestimated the power of demon princes. My friend took the left flank but didn't go full out to stay in synapse. His Flyrant swooped 13"
Shooting Phase My hive guard fired at berserker squad howeve the shots pinged off their superior armour. My flyrant swooped and shot at the slaanesh demon prince and thanks to the new FAQ used skyfire, luckily for him he passed his grounding test, the dice gods failed me as i had only managed 2 wounds out 9 hits which he promptly saved. Friends tyrant cast paroxysm on a marine squad. No assualts.
Chaos Turn 2
Movement phase Once again all marines move forward to occupy2/3 objectives, he rolled a 6 (grav generator) on one which was just outside his deployment zone and 3 (Skyfire nexus) on the middle objective, however this one had been paroxed, making no differnece. Demon princes moved to assualt the tervigon.
Shooting Phase Slaanesh demon didnt shoot, the tzeentch demon attempted to cast warptime but failed and suffered perils. Defliers shot battle cannons and autocanons but tzeentch decided that a change was necessary and hardly any hit. marines elected to run into cover upon seeing the horde. Havocs unloaded into my friends hive guard squad but roll poorly causing a single wound.
Assault Phase Both demon princes charge my tervigon, he obviously offers no challenge but i decide to challenge the slaanesh demon since it has a worse invulnerable save. he accepts and it results in a draw, causing 3 wounds to me and 3 to him.
Nids Turn 2
Movement Phase Most of squads move forward, hive guard take a difficult terrain test but stumble, only rolling a 3. termagants moved to charge the slaanesh demon prince and the tervigon spawns 7 gants and her supply is exhausted (:/) My flyrant swoops to the left deflier. my friend moves all his unit forward and glides his flyrant so it can join the hormagants assaulting. I also remember my psychic powers and tervigon casts endurance on itself.
Shooting Phase my hive guard unloaded into a tactical squad killing two marines. Flyrant only manages to remove a single hull point of a defiler. my friends zoanthrope shots two warp blasts at a berserker squad killing it with a total of 11 wounds.
Assualt Phase termagants, spawned and otherwise assualt the princes to help the tervigon which finishes the slaanesh demon, two hormagaunt squads assualt a squad each, wiping out the second berserker squad and the second failing to reach despite fleet. the yzeentch demon would have finshed my tervigon off but rolled 4 1s to tit ><. Friends flyrant also charged the berserker squad and consolidates behind cover.
Chaos Turn 3 (Final turn)
Movement Phase hardly any movement most squads are now in position to shoot the advancung horde. Defilers sit still once again
Shooting Phase This went very well for chaos, the tactical marines eliminated the majority of hormagaunt squads, defilers use their battle cannons to mop up a lot but a total of 9 survive, the 2 other tactical squads shoot my friends hive guard killing them both (wth?) the havoc also promptly bring my hive guard down to single guard with 1 wound. Both flyrants are largely ignored.
Assualt Phase Demon price finally kills the tervigon but amazingly the termagant squad in range suffers no damage from the back lash. termagants take a wound of the demon prince.
Nids Turn 3
Movement Phase My flyrant moves (glides) behind the defiler it shot at last turn, the 12 man termagaunt squad moves up to take the 3rd objective. my warriors attempt to move to help the doomed gants but roll badly for difficult terrain.
Shooting Phase Three zoanthropes cast warp blast on the objective that is furthest away, one was denied but two caused enough wounds to cause a leadership test and they ran away (very lucky)my single hive guard shot but missed. My flyrant shoots the rear armour of the defiler wrecking it.
Assualt Phase My friend uses the remains of his hormas to assualt the tactical squad and pulls them away from their objective. his flyrant assualt the last defiler and it explodes.
Overall the nids won, but if it had gone on no doubt we would have lost. Victory points were 5 (slay the warlord and linebreaker) - 1 (first blood)
Overall i feel that my army under performed, my warriors did nothing but provide synapse for the guard. a mistake on my part was poor positioning off the tervigon and only luck saved me. (i mean i did survive 2 demon princes charging me) suprisingly my termagaunts were left untouched, i guess my opponents didnt feel it was worth dealing with them. we won by luck and a last turn initative
Comments and crticism welcome, also please forgive any errors in spelling and grammar
