idea for a new rule/ house rule for my nids

swarms rule:
tyranid units can move into and join one another wen within 2" to form a swarm. individual units in the swarm can still be targeted separately in shooting and assault but synapse creatures take grater control of the swarm when part of it and so can take advantage of the look out sir rule for them selves and any monstrous creatures in the swarm unit. but if the swarm runs or assaults any D6 role of 6 is an automatic wound to a non-synapse/monstrous creature in the swarm as it is crushed in the rush forward.

what do you guys think? i just came up with it as a way of protecting my warriors...

Sounds broken if you ask me, LO,S'ing high strength shots fired at my Tervigon to 5 point Termagants, LO,S'ing small arms fire to my Endurance/Iron Arm enhanced Tervigon?

So Termagants/Hormagaunts now act similar to Independent Characters? Heh.

I don't mind if other playgroups have houserules, but I'm hesitant to use any because I'm new to the game and I want to first learn the normal rules before I get confused or become dependent on house rules to win.

I think there should just be something like combined squads in the IG codex. And only for certain units.
I.e. Rippers, Skylashers, Hormagants, Termagants, Gargoyles - if you really want to go hardcore you could apply this to all non-synapse MCs as well and perhaps to Tervigons.
On the other hand I'd like Warriors to be IC (or at least be able to join squads as if they were ICs) to provide synapse and stuff.
