Tervigon got enfeeble, warp speed and haemorrhage
Mission[/u]
The emperors will with diagonal deployment
Set up[/u]
Marine obkective was deployed in the ruins the tactical are in, my objective was at the base of the hill on my side.
I love Vanguard strike. It allows me to start my flying MCs on the board but far enough away from enemy heavy weapons.
However I got confused in deployment. Normally I deploy my devils behind vanilla and stealers behind gargoyles. However I hadn’t deployed and vanilla gaunts, since I wanted big mamma to make babies.
So the gargoyles got to screen the devils and the hormies got to be a second front.
Big mamma deploys in the middle, with the carnifex chaperoning her.
Both the tyrant and the Harpy deploy on the hill
The mraines deploy their tactical in the ruins with the chapter master, guarding the objective, and the thunderfire behind. With the speeder and the scouts flanking and the land raider right in my face.
The stealers infiltrate into the ruins near the raider, ready to jump on its’ cargo.
The flyrant with a blue base is the harpy
Turn 1[/u]
Tyranids
Everyone runs or flaps forwards. The flyrant angles towards the centre, whilst the stealers make sure they are still in cover.
Marines
The drop pod slams into the ground behind my lines and disgorges the iron clad, at the same time the raider rumbles forwards and a group of angry marines, led by an even angrier one pour out.
Shooting sees the thunder fire use subterrain munitions on my devils to ignore the cover given by the Gargoyles and kill 2/3 of the unit. The gargoyles lose half their number to speeder and scout fire.
The land raider manages to hit and wound the flying tyrant with a las cannon, though it doesn’t ground it. The second las cannon misses the harpy, but the heavy bolter doesn’t and knocks the harpy out of the sky, but the fall doesn’t wound it.
The ironclad then removes two wounds from the Tervigon with both missiles and the meltagun
The terminators then charge the hormies. Losing one to their sharp bladed limbs, before smashing all but 2 into pulp with their unrelenting hatred.
Turn 2[/u]
Tyranids
The lector, seeing the carnage decides to continue to hide.
The Tyrant then casts enfeeble on the tactical and the tervigon casts enfeeble on the terminators.
The tyrant, Gargoyles and Harpy then converge on the tactical, whilst the depleted devils decide to tackle the land speeder, since there aren’t that many of them left. Whilst the stealers slink from their cover to assault the terminators.
Shooting sees the speeder lose a single hull point, the drop pod 2 (the carni had nothing else to shoot), and a few tactical die.
The Tervigon and stealers then charged the terminators.
The tervigon roars in an impressive fashion and the terminator sergeant steps forwards to silence her. He swings twice, but both blows miss as the beast rears up on its’ hind legs. He quickly ducks behind his storm shield as blow after blow rains down upon him. After the 5th blow he is amazed to be alive and starts laughing at his good fortune. This laughter stops when he sees all of his brother and the chaplain dead, torn apart by the stealers claws.
He fails his morale test and isn’t caught (apparently terminator armour makes you faster than a genestealer. However since he has to fall back past the stealer brood, they are able to consolidate into a circle around him.
Marines
Sniper fire kills the Gargoyles, whilst the Thunderfire kills the remaining devils and leaves the prime on one wound.
The terminator sergeant decides to go down in a blaze of glory and charges the stealers, getting torn into small chunks for his troubles. Whilst the dread charges the rear of the tervigon and uses his chainfist to great effect, slaying the beast.
Turn 3[/u]
Tyranids
Lictor turns up behind the scouts
My opponent gloats about how the thunderfire will kill the stealers, so the tyrant swoops over it to kill the thing.
The Harpy continues to glide across the battlefield whilst the stealers run towards new prey thins and spread out. The carni lumbers towards the landraider and the remaining hormie stands around in a confused fashion.
Shooting sees the thunderfire lose a wound (should have vector striked).
The carnifex fails its 5 inch charge, sigh.
Marines
Thunderfire kills the entire stealer brood, whilst the scouts forget to shoot the lector.
Instead they decide to charge him. It kills three before being killed in return.
Turn 4[/u]
Tyranids
The tyrant casts warp speed on herself gaining 2 attacks then lands and walks up to the tactical squad, whilst the Harpy flaps alongside the remaining scouts. The fex walks within a few meters of the raider.
Shooting sees the scouts removed and the tactical squad reduced to a marine with a missile launcher and a 1 wound chapter master, though they hold their ground.
The fex charges the land raider and ponders, 5 S9 attacks, or 3 S10 attacks rerolling the pen dice? He decides on the S10 and immobilises the tank with a single penetrating hit.
The tyrant charges the tactical marine and chapter master and challenges. He loses 2 wounds to the masters relic blade, forgetting he had FNP due to the objective, then kills the chapter master by causing 4 wounds. The remaining tactical tries to run but gets stomped into the ground.
My opponent concedes.

Marines 0 – Tyranids 3 (First blood, Line breaker, slay the warlord)
After action report
I hate thunderfire cannons
I really hate Thunderfire cannons
This was my first game to remind me of when I used nids a few year ago. Lose most of the boys getting in then munch face.
I was really worried after turn one. I had done no damage and three of my broods were reduced to useless. However the stealers were able to turn it around, coupled with the marines not wanting to expend too much fire power on the flyers. In fact I can’t remember if the tactical marines fired their bolters once in the game.
Overall a nice uphill struggle, slowly getting easier and easier.
