Tale of the Lucky Lictor

Once upon a time...this afternoon, actually, I was playing a 1000 point game.

I'd got a lone lictor, mainly to be used as a homing beacon for my deep strikers. However, all of my reserves hit the table in the same turn, leaving me with a lictor that I didn't think could achieve much.

So, Lonely the Lictor decided to lurk in the terrain until a unit presented itself to be assaulted, hoping that he wouldn't get ripped to shreds in the overwatch fire. It was then that he happened upon a unit of havocs.

He managed to hit with his fleshhooks, but the wound was saved...so he took a deep breath and declared his charge, braving 3 heavy bolters, a bolter and a missile launcher...somehow making it into Assault with only one Wound sustained!

He then managed to kill 2 Havocs and escape taking any hits in return...

The following turn however...he was charged by a unit of Khorne Berzerkers...he caused hits, but failed to Wound and then they began swinging...they scored a load of hits, scoring 5 Wounds. So, Lightly Injured the Lictor needed to make 5 saves...the dice were rolled and...came up 3 5's and 2 6's! Lightly Injured the Lictor managed to avoid becoming Lifeless the Lictor.

The following turn rolled around...the Lictor took down 2 Berzerkers, then took another volley of hits, again suffering 5 Wounds. The save was rolled and... 5 6's! Lucky the lictor lived to fight another round...

Unfortunately, he did get butchered the following turn, taking another 2 Berzerkers with him, but with his tally of 10 saved Wounds across 2 turns, he will be heralded as Spawny the Lictor for the rest of his days!

I once had a chapter master I kitbashed joined with a squad of 5 space marines. They came under assault in 5th by a nob an a group of boys on turn 1. I rolled so well that I tied the unit up 3 turns, but was down to just the chapter master. During those turns my army was reduced to just the chapter master, and my opponent had just one group of boys, nob and war boss.

The lonely chapter master broke free from the assault on turn 4. I then assaulted the only other unit fully expecting him to die. By turn 7 it was down to just him and the war boss. My friend and I just laughed at the improbability of it all, and so Chapter Master Norris was named that day, and it is a re-occurring joke whenever I need to make impossible saves: "Remember men, we all have the geneseed of Norris". Which usually results in another good ol' chuckle when those saves are made.

I always enjoy those moments when statistically you do the impossible.

I love moments like this, like the lone chapter master norris and larry the lictor .
My inquisitor has a penchant for surviving well in his carapace armour, taking down marines with his daemonsword. Ah, good times.

The necron player I play with once used his Imhotep's lightning ability to down my friends tyrant turn 1! First rolled a 6 for a hit then another 6 for 6 wounds. Imhotp and the number of the beast!
