It takes a bit of work to get these up, but here we go! It is quite old (prolly 3-4 games ago)
"It was wrong... how was the information about this world wrong?" Brother Serthas pondered as his breathing became shallow. The halo-screen data had reported that the world had recent had chaotic warp turbulence and the Blood Angels came prepared to deal with that. What they met was something completely different!

DEPLOYMENT / WARLORD TRAITS and PSYCHIC POWERS
The Mysterious Forest and the Large Pool (Mysterious River) were in my deployment zone - he made me take the first turn. He did not succumb to Red Thirst.
The Prime scored Legendary Fighter (Perfect!!!) and Brother Serthas rolled (Master of Offence).
Now, for the psychic powers. Looking at what I might have to contend with, I decided to keep the Zoanthropes as is for Warp Blast as he was taking less vehicles than expected. The Broodlord again scored Iron Arm and Enfeeble. I traded my three powers in on my Tervigon and scored Iron Arm, Endurance and Enfeeble - I of course was very please with these results!
GAME TURN 1
"The swarm of Illithid numbered an uncountable mass across the horizon. The Blood Angels drew their battle-line, prepared to throw themselves at the xeno menace like the rising sun"
It was Night Fighting in Turn One.
The Tervigon didn't spawn cast Endurance on the Trygon as it smashed its way into the Mysterious Forest. As it slammed down trees, a seething mass of vegetation struck out violently. One of the Str5 hits penetrated his 3+ Armour Save, but he shrugged it off with his FNP.
My turn one saw the Genestealers inside the Mysterious River (a risk I know, but I wanted to explore the new terrain rules). The Broodlord rolled Iron Arm and went to S7/T7. As they stealthily moved through the thick waters, it was quickly discovered to be Industrial Ooze!!! I quickly lost 3 Genestealers to the toxic goo, rolling 2x5's and a 6
With nothing in range, we just charged forward blindly.
"With a screaming impact, reinforcements arrived as a Drop Blood burst through the dawn heavens, seering heat burning off its hull"
The Drop Pod landed behind my deployment zone and had literally 4" of room to mishap. He scattered straight towards the board edge (I began chuckling at this result), but then only scattered 3".
His Tactical Marines then leapt out and unleashed plasma, hot promethium and rapid fired into my Hormagaunts - this took its toll and they quickly were cut down to 14. I also lost 2 out of my 3 Ripper Swarms. The Devastors fired also, but Cover of Night thankfully saved me more, but I was left with only 11 Hormagaunts.
The Baal Predator and Drop Pod then fired away at the Zoanthropes, taking one wound off the closest one, but failing to wound the other one.
The Rhino attempted to take out the Trygon, but being Shrouded and in a Mysterious Forest, failed to even wound it.
Meanwhile, the Death Company and Assault Marines stayed put and the Sanguinary Guard jumped to the top of the ruins in the centre of his deployment zone.
First Blood did not go to the enemy., my Ripper Swarm held on with some scatters and the Zoanthrope didn't die. However, I now had a hard decision, turn the Stealers around or let 11 Hormagaunts and a lone Ripper assault 10 Marines...
VP - ILLITHID 0 / BLOOD ANGELS 0
[glow=red,2,300]GAME TURN TWO[/glow]
"Brother Serthas from his vantage point grunted as he surveyed the battle field. The initial strike had worked and the xenos seemed confused as blasts ripped through their ranks"
The Broodlord let out a terrifying shriek as its muscles bulged and its skin thickened (Iron Arm took it to S7 / T7 again) and it turned the Stealers around, but they must of been confused only moving 7" (I rolled a 2 rerolled my fleet and got a 1 )
The Tervigon spawned 11 termagants this round and this time cast Iron Arm on the Trygon taking it to Str9/T9, as it was closest to the Rhino and Assault Marines.
The Hive Guard turned and unleashed Impaler Cannon Parasites at the Drop Pod. The Zoanthropes also fired Warp lance at the Drop Pod scoring 1x Penetration and the Hive Guard two glances, taking off the remaining Hull Points wrecking it (First Blood was Mine!).
The lone Ripper than assaulted the Tactical Marines but was flamed to death by Overwatch leaving the Hormagaunts to assault. 11 went in and with 33 atacks, managed to take out 4 of the Blood Angels. In return he killed 6 and we were left at a stale mate.
His next turn was fairly uneventful. The Devastator Squad attempted to kill my Zoanthropes and managed to take one down and left the other on 1 wound, but he passed 2 Invulnerable saves and then ate fire from the Baal Predator and again passed his 3+ Invulnerable save.
The Sanguinary Guard did not do what I had anticipated and stayed at the top of the ruins and fired at the Termagants, killing 4 of their number. I honestly expected him to swoop down and fight my Tervigon.
The Death Company Rhino also did not disembark and instead fired at the Trygon, finally putting one wound on the gigantic beast.
The tactical Marines fought on against the Hormagaunts, this time seeing one of the Astartes scythed through his power armour and two of the hormagaunts crushed by the power fist and a bolter to the head. I LOVE THE NO RETREAT WOUNDS!!! This gave my Broodlord time to hopefully get there!
VP - ILLITHID 3 / BLOOD ANGELS 1
[glow=red,2,300]GAME TURN THREE[/glow]
"Doubt confused Brother Serthas' thoughts... had he waited to long to met the foe in bloody melee? Only time would tell as the base of the ruined outpost was quickly surrounded by snapping and clawing Termagants, hunger shining obsessively in their green eyes"
I moved my Stealers and Broodlord towards the tactical Marines, but found myself still to far away, needing a 9" charge (which I failed when I tried - but lost nothing as they were still engaged with the Hormagaunts). I cats Iron Arm again and got Str 8 / T8.
The Tervigon chose to spawn again, getting 9 termagants that moved towards the Assault Marines and were close enough to charge. The other squad of termagaunts with the Prime reached the base of the ruin and prepared to assault up the two levels needed to engage the Sanguinary Guard and their HQ. The Termagaunts were torn to shreds, but my Prime cut down Brother Serthas, gaining me "Slay the Warlord"
Meanwhile, the Zoanthrope moved towards the Ball Predator, but was to far away to use its Warp Lance and the Hive Guard fired at the Ball Predator, getting a glancing hit, leaving it with 2 HP.
The Trygon moved towards the Death Company Rhino and the Assault Marines while the Hormagaunts fought on vs. the Tactical Squad. One lonely Hormagaunt remained at the end of this round.
[glow=red,2,300]GAME TURN FOUR[/glow]
"With the loss of Brother Sertas, the Blood Angels rallied around each other as the Tyranids swept in from all sides. It looked grim and the knew they would give their lives, but would take as many of the xenos with them."
The rest of the game deteriorated fast for the Blood Angels. The Hormagaunts finally died in his turn, but then the squad only consolidated 2" and the Broodlord and Genestealers made short work of them.
The Assault Marine Sergeant fought off single handedly a wave of Termagaunts, killing an entire brood, but then falling as I replenished them with another spawning. The Sanguinary Guard were hacked down by the Prime who was joined by the
First Wave
Second Wave before he fell
Conclusion: Was a fun game and the first time I had not tabled him. He was left with the Death Company Rhino and his Devastator Squad, but it was a total blood bath in the end. This was the game where I started losing my faith in Genestealers and Hormagaunts.
Thanks for the time it takes to read this and any questions, just ask.
