Before the new rules I hated flamers. They were really, to me, just better versions of pyrovores...
With the new rules, they are cheap, survivable, and reliable for their cost. No, I won't be using them to breath of chaos the turn they come down as risk the mishap. Thats silly. Warp fire isn't a bad gun at all. I just before wasn't going to pay 35 points for a 1 wound warp fire node. (unrelated note, anyone with the last issue of white dwarf notice that they used the old points cost for flamers in their 40k battle report?)
Screamers are equally similar in how survivable they are. Basically, they are like fiends of slaanesh now. And I like fiends of slaanesh
Fiends of slaanesh make probably one of the hugest impacts in the game for their points. 6 s5 ws5 attacks on the charge with rending and i5? It's... A lot to say the least. They kill tanks, they kill infantry. The only thing they can't do is kill fliers, and for reason.
Horrors dish out a lot of shots, have a good save, and have ap4 (kills toasters) and bolt (kills tanks and instant kills characters)
Bloodthirsters are an interesting option. They are heavy in damage capabilities. They are the best answer to fliers daemons have (next to bolt en mass, see horrors) I WON'T EVER divide in perfect half's, I judge the situation and make the half's based on that. I say this because usually the thirsters will try to come down together so that the opponent has to shoot more than one of them at a time.
Kind of an elite army, but that lowers my numbers for my half's. 2 wound t4 5++ models with powerful impacts on the game en mass. Gives my opponents lots of things to consider shooting at, most of which won't be my punk horrors. And if they do I have a turn to set up for a deviating impact on their army.
Comments and criticism welcome.
