Do we have the most expensive co$ting elites?

I just realized, do we have the most across the board, expensive co$ting models for elites of any army? Especially given that with the exception of yealers, they're all just 40mm bases? They all cost $25 usd a pop... that's HQ pricing for most armies. Consider that a box of 5 termies is $50, a full set of zthropes or hive guard is $75... Anyone have it worse than us?

Seriously though, a minimum squad is three and it's $25 per model. For the full squad of ten it's $250. Have fun guise.

Really, they arent bad. at 2 pts/dollar for HG, they are slightly above average. Things like rhinos/raiders are 1/$1, Wraithguard are 7/$5 (but have bonuses if you field full 10 man squads.... right), grotesques are 7/$5, and there are a few others around that mark.

A proper squad of termies will cost $209 CAD ($211.30 USD). 2 boxes of Terminators (likely the assault variant), and a Land Raider to haul them around. not quite as bad as Eldar, but still up there.

There are more ways to compare than by model. You can do by unit, point, weight, etc.

Model for model, our elites are probably among the most costly. When looked at in another context, they aren't so bad.

Over here in Britain, it's precisely the same, no other army elites are quite as expensive for a decent sized unit. So I totally understand, and agree with u, why can't we have boxed sets of elite units, like the blood crushers, at a similar price?

Sorry, the only context I care about is $150-$200 if I'm running 6-8 elite models. I look at that on the table, shake my head and think holy s, this is a sick joke. I look at value, and what gets handed over to me when I purchase a product. I don't do some kind jedi trick on myself saying, oh, Deathleaper is 140 points (the most generous example of $ to point ratio), that totally justifies the $25 I dropped on this tiny piece of horrible hybrid resin.

But that's just me. That being said, I really am happy with our newer plastic kits, such as the Hive Tyrant and Tervigon/TFex especially. Soooo many other goodies that come along I can convert on to my other models. Though they're higher priced kits, I feel good about what I get with them.

Exactly. There aren't even lash whip / bonesword options for Tyrant Guard. Honestly I'd love to see Hive Guard and Tyrant Guard get rolled in to 1 either or, 3 beasty plastic kit with all the optional fixins in the $50-$57 price range. They're both blind, T6 models; wouldn't be a stretch in terms of using the same body. You almost feel like that was a plan at some point considering how similar their claws, head, and body are.

The Tyrant box doesn't even come with Devourers . . . his most popular option. I'll buy a $60 model when its not half-assed and missing parts, until then it's good ol' 2nd hand metal and GS for me. Scored the most recent metal Tyrant, never even primed, for $20 on Craigslist last month!!!

Tau Elites are exactly as expensive as Tyranid Elites. Crisis suits are the same price as Hive Guard/Zoanthropes/Venomthropes and have the same 1-3 unit size. And they're plastic.

Edit- Fiends of Slaanesh (Chaos Daemons) and Ogryns (Imperial Guard) are worse because of larger unit sizes, although those armies do have other options for Elites. Wraithguard take the cake though.

Awesome catch fire the metal tyrant! For me I just use the fleshborer hive from the Tervigon kit. The official MC devourers are so wimpy looking. I do have four magnetized ones but I never use them anymore.

However the fact that the tyrant kit is just a torso and abdomen away from two fully models tyrant's is pretty awesome.

A single fiend Of slaanesh is $25 as well. I can't honestly afford them without buying assembled metal ones from people who are quitting daemons in 40k.

At least warriors with genestealers heads and carnifex carapace makes for good hive guard.

If you buy all GW Shrikes with LW/BS or dual BS come out to $30 each. Worse than Wraithguard at $270 for a full brood and still getting a model less. Not to mentions some of the parts i have to get shipped from the UK.
