Best formation for our swarmy broods?

In 5th edition, my experience was that the most common formation for getting our broods of small 'nids into combat was a zig-zag line, spaced out to avoid getting hammered by large blast templates, giving up easy extra models to small blasts, and providing a nice row of casualties to flamer templates. Obviously other formations were required for other circumtances.

Now, with casualties from shooting coming from the closest models, and template models being removed from beneath the template, and models in the open going down before models out of LOS, what's the best formation to advance our 'nids into action?

One row of bodies is now very dangerous as models removed from the middle will put us out of coherancy quickly. Is it two loose rows deep? Is it an oval so that models taken out closest to the shooter don't force us out of coherency and the opening in the center reduces template losses? Clearly with the oval you would have to close ranks when prepping for the charge, but that was the case in 5th edition as well for any formation. Is it a chevron with the tips pointed towards the enemy?

How about like a Horse shoe, with two lines poking towards the enemy with a meat of 2 rows shielding.

I think it really depends on the mission, and how much terrain you have on the board. With more terrain you're not forced to think too hard on an overall formation, at least in my experience.

In my last battle, I ended up in more of V shape, with the right side making contact with the enemy. Deep striking the Doom and Trygon in my opponents line forced him to deal those targets or get eaten, this allowed the faster Gargoyles to get into close combat while the rest of the swarm followed.

Wounds from Template Weapons are Allocated as normal. Only Barrage Weapons Allocate to Models under the Marker. Pg.52.

Since I usually have bigger stuff coming up right behind the little Gribblies, they're still more or less strung out in lines. I'm generally looking at forming each Brood up into 2 staggered "ranks" now, sometimes even 3 if I really need them to hold together and not let an enemy Charge through.

Ive found out that if you deep strick and out flank the enemy they will shot the closer one's well the rest of the swarm comes closer. A bounes is it is part of our fluffe we attack from every were and they have to fight shot every were

Correct on the Template weapons, and even the Barrage weapons don't 'really' allocate to under the Blast Marker, they just measure the 'closest' from the center of the marker. (Granted, not much of a difference) If multiple Markers contact the same models, or if other wound pools are allocated first, it is quite possible that barrage wounds will effect models not under a marker.

Being out of Coherency isn't really that big of a deal.
