I wrote up this 1500pt list as my starting list for getting back into tyranids. I understand its not a tournament build or a the most tradition build but I'd like feedback and constructive criticism for both inspiration and recognition of its weaknesses. Thanks.
HQ: Hive Tyrant- 255 pts
(x2 Scything talons, HC, Wings)
Troops: Termagant Brood w/ TS x10- 60pts
Troops: Termagant Brood w/ TS x10- 60pts
Troops: Tervigon- 190 pts
(Scything Talons, AG, Cluster Spines, Catalyst)
Troops: Tervigon- 185 pts
(AG, Cluster Spines, Catalyst)
Troops: Hormagaunt Brood w/ TS x15- 120pts
Elite: Ymgarl Genestealers x5- 115pts
Elite: Ymgarl Genestealers x5- 115 pts
Heavy: Carnifex w/ mycetic spore- 200 pts
Heavy: Carnifex w/ mycetic spore- 200 pts
This list is completely paper, i haven't played this list yet but my vision is to have my massive blob of troops rushing forward. I would like to try replacing the Tervigons powers with the Biomancy discipline, however their current tyranid powers are perfect for buffing and supporting the surrounding swarm.
I plan on flying the Tyrant ahead using Biomancy powers to terrorize any and all.
The Ymgarls I have for picking off snipers, weapon platforms, longfangs and their sorts.
And now the two Carnifex...sigh... the first thing my friends at my local club pointed out was that i could have two Trygons instead. While I admit the Trygon is an awesome unit, I really like the Fex. Not only for the model and personal choice but tactically as well, while the Trygon has 6 wounds and more firepower than the Fex, I like having the Fex's brute strength 9. Regardless whether I take Trygons or Fexs i will use them primarily for anti tank. Also having the mycetic spores come down with the Fexs i can create a wall to block my enemy in the backfield and provide the approaching swarm with cover.
Anyways this was a very long post and if you stuck around to read the entire thing I am very thankful. Let me know what you think I can improve on and how you think my tactics will fair on the battlefield. Thanks again.
