Hello,

I was a bit confused when playing a game.

If a Hive Tyrant is swooping then you need a grounding test. If you fail and he goes crashing to the ground and then another unit shoots him, does that unit still need 6's to hit him via snapshots?

Also do you need to take a grounding test for each unit that hits you even if you failed one before that turn?

What does grounded actually mean? are you still treated as swooping but they can assault you?

No one is 100%, it can be argued both ways. If you pass a grounded test you can be forced to take one from another unit (like pinning) but once you fail, I doubt you can take more.

No one is sure. (Or rather, lots of folks are sure, but completely disagree)

The question without a concrete answer is "Does Grounding replace Swooping, or add to it?"

Either:
After being grounded you are no longer swooping, thus hit on normal BS and no more grounding tests
or
Grounded is in addition, thus still hit on 6's, and may be grounded multiple times in one turn.

Talk with your group and/or opponent.

I think the wording on the part about bs 1 is somoething like "a model that moved in glide model in their last movement phase can only have snapshots taken against them... " under hard to hit, so I think they DO still need 6's to hit but you can't be grounded more than once as said. Representing how fast they are moving (even if they hit the ground they are still movingly fast as they shot, and the shooting phase represents the oppont shoring while your guys are moving)

The tourney I was in everyone played by what makes the most sense. If you fail a grounded test you are on the ground, normal BS in other words.

It's fair and logical.

On the other hand though, shooting is supposed to represent a lot of simultaneous fire so as the FMC plummets to the ground for 20 secs or so, it's still fairly hard to hit at such speed. Remember it isn't dead, just off balance or whatever.

I'd probably play it normal BS though just so I'm prepared for the worst when it's FAQed.
