Spore mines and Null deployment?

Just wondering if the spore mines count for having models on the table for turn 1?

Rules say you lose if you have no models on the table for a given turn. I'm unclear if this is considered a mission objective or not for the purposes of spore mines' exemption

If spore mines do count and running a null deployment list, it could have merit to take a few and hide them for turn 1.

Mission objectives are "mission" but spore mines are models none the less.

To bad, the tactic is folly. They get deployed before the game starts, they are t1, and I'd they take a wound they blow up (which causes them all to die) so, at the end of your turn, there will still very likely be nothing on the board

What a cunning plan, I love it. I'd only consider it in nightfighting missions though.

The only way I can see it working is with some luck on the scatter rolls and being totally out of line of sight... Nothing to be confident about getting.

It's not a bad option really, if you just needed 1 more unit on the table to put all the units you planned on into reserves. You could always deepstrike them in a safe area, in your own deployment zone and then deploy your own units which you plan on having on the board anyway, infront of the mines to give cover.

Saying this though, for the points your better off getting rippers.

Rippers alone will kill themselves faster than the enemy does... Infiltrating a brood of genestealers into a 4+ area terrain and then going to ground is probably the best way to ensure you have something left when your reserves arrive. That is, until they pull out the flamers.
