my 1000 point "quicksilver" listing; help?

Ok so it's my listing for a tournament/small games, i'm aiming it on quick, relatively early game demolition and annoyance

HQ
Tervigon w/ST, Cat, Ons = 205

Elites
Hive Guards (2) = 100
Zoanthropes (2) = 120

Troops
Termagaunts w/ Devourers, TS (20) = 220
Hormagaunts w/ TS (16) = 128

Only reason i call it "quicksilver" is purely cause the target is one turn damaging and tying up enemies, with gargoyles swooping in, Biovores blasting and the 18" devourer reach.

Main tactic for speedybash and distractions. Any suggestions for improvement? Any and all hints are appreciated

Sorry I don't see this working. 10 Gargoyles are going to get massacred, I mean the overwatch alone will more than decimate (literally) you. More relevantly you advertise this as a rapid attacking army, and I just don't see that. This is a ponderously slow army. You need spore pods for your zoanthropes and termagaunts to make it faster moving. I have no idea what the spore mines are doing, other than you bought two biovore models and got 6 free mines with them.

So what do you recommend for it then? And by spore pods i assume you mean for deep striking? (sorry, relatively new to WH40K)

Mycetic Spores, they're out dedicated transport. Anything with an 18 inch range loves mycetic spores, otherwise you're unlikely to get in shooting range before you're shot apart. Forget the Gargoyles, forget the spore mines, put the termagants and zoanthropes into mycetic spores, and spend the leftover points on getting the hormagaunt numbers higher.

So DS the zoans and gants then? keeps the guards with hormies and the tervigon, as well as the Biovores, marching over the board while the shooters DS and shoot-out from a good range away? that sound about right?

I disagree with squash on the termagant spores. It isn't really "faster" if you have to put them away and roll a dice to see if you get them on time.

You can move turn one, check to see if your in range to shoot anything, and if your not... Run. Simple. Spending 40 points on a spore has its advantages, but just because they don't do anything turn 1 doesnt mean they aren't valuable assets in shooting. Also, with spores, even if you get them out early, you will be out of synapse (unless you specifically strike them to be in synapse, where you will realize you spent 40 points for nothing)

I have never had issues walking gants across the board. I started 40k with gants in spores and realized... That is a bad tactic. That was a different edition of course, but I do have better foresight when it comes to 40k models now. I have been trying devilgants in spores with the edition change, and they continue to lack to impress me; it continues to be a suicide unit.

If spores really were like drop pods, we wouldn't be having this issue. I would in every right, say go for it... Because it would be faster. However, waiting 2-3 turns to get your models out isn't tactically sound, to me. With my tactic, your models can move from offensive to defensive rolls without issues. With the spores, it is most benificial to go offensive for the behind the lines vp, and lack of using your points for nothing (don't go by the tactic "I bought it for this so I am going to use it for this" if you do get a spore, and it isnt safe to drop into enemy lines, don't)

That is my point of view. If one doesnt work for you, try the other. I think squash misjudged how fast 6" actually is, how long 18" assault really is, and forgot about running.
