Hi all,
I have a doubles tourney coming up next month. My friend plans on playing Blood Angels (whether it is shooty, assaulty, or a hybrid depends on my list). I've done numerous doubles tournaments before but I have never used 'Nids competitively. Here's the list running in my mind:
HQ: Hive Tyrant, 2x TL Devs, Old Adversary, Armored Shell WITH 1x Tyrant Guard - 325
ELITES: 3x Zoanthrope - 180
TROOP: Tervigon w/ Catalyst, Onslaught, AG, TS - 210
TROOP: 19 Termagants w/ Fleshborers - 95
HEAVY: Carnifex w/ 2x TL Devourers - 190
A couple comments about my list:
1) You are probably wondering "where the heck are your Hive Guard?" To be honest I don't own any and I have to assemble several other models before the tournament, so realistically I don't think I will have the time/money to purchase a set of 3x Hive Guard.
2) I fully plan on running a Biomancy load-out for my psykers (Tyrant and Tervigon for obvious reasons). Zoanthropes seem quite interesting and appear to be able to abuse the psyker rules pretty well. Each of the 3 will be able to roll separately for 2 different powers on the chart. That gives multiple chances to get Enfeeble against enemy deathstars or Endurance for my Carnifex. Additionally, with wound allocation tricks and an Iron Arm roll, I can position my toughest Zoanthrope up front and/or use Look Out, Sir! to make the unit that much more survivable.
3) The flip-side to not running any Hive Guard and running a full set of Zoanthropes is the ability to elect NOT to swap out the psyker powers. The Str 10 AP 1 Lance will be effective against Land Raider and Monolith lists that we will inevitably come across in doubles games.
4) While I am missing out on the mass Strength 8 shots Hive Guard would provide, having 2 MC's with 2x TL Devourers and Old Adversary will be about the best tool 'Nids have at handling flyers. Glancing and mass shots ftw.
5) Speaking of Old Adversary, I plan on bubble wrapping my army with spawned 'Gants and to march forward as a relatively single entity, taking advantage of the OA re-rolls as best as possible.
Let me know what you think about my list and my ideas. Thanks!
