I like the idea of buying fortifications for our troops, but those shown in the rulebook are too bland.
Hopefully GW will release more race specific ones, either in each codex, or as a supplement.
Until then we have only our own imagination to help us.
So without further ado, I present my ideas for Tyranid fortifications
Brood nest 75pts
Often when subsuming a planet a hive fleet will grow hundreds of brood nests across the continents. The purpose of these nests is to replenish the ranks of the swarm without the orbiting bioships having to use their biomass reserves.
Often these structures will be all that remains of a failed invasion. Hidden in the depths of swamps and forests, slowly replenishing the ranks of the swarm
Brood nest

2... 2.. 6 9 6 1 0 10 3+
A brood nest has 4 deathspitters, one on each facing, these may fire at different targets
Upto one friendly brood may occupy the brood nest, using the occupy building rules from the main rulebook
Option
Any of the following:
Living hive +30pts
The hive gains +3 attacks, lash whips and ripper tentacles
Armoured shell +20pts
See tyranid codex
Regeneration +20pts
See tyranid codex
May take one of the following:
Symbiotic brood guard with synaptic relay +5pts
Symbiotic brood guard with twin linked shattersky csnnon with skyfire +30pts
Symbiotic brood guard with devourer hive +30pts
Note symbiotic brood guard must be deployed in contact with the brood hive but can be targeted separately.
May take one of the following:
Termagant progenitor +70pts
Use the spawn temagant rules from the tyranid codex
Gargoyle progenitor +70pts
Use the spawn temagant rules from the tyranid codex, replacing the word Termagant with Gargoyle
Hormagaunt progenitor +70pts
Use the spawn temagant rules from the tyranid codex, replacing the word Termagant with Hormagaunt
Digestion pool 40pts
formed in natural depressions in the land Digestion pools will eventually cover much of the land mass of the planet, forming vast reservoirs of biomass for the orbiting hive ships to consume. The land surrounding the Digestion pool swarms with rippers, either carrying material to the pool or returning to harvest more.
The digestion pool is impassible terrain
All friendly Ripper swarms (of any type) gain FNP and It will not die special rules.
Spore chimney 75pts
the worst part of a Tyranid invasion, is not the scuttling hordes, nor the winged horrors that fly above. IT is the tyranoforming that the countless spores force upon the world. Even if the swarm is destroyed the world can still be lost, due to the mutating effects the spores have on the ecosphere.

Special rules
Toxic miasma
All friendly tyranid units within 12” have the shrouding special rule and count as having defensive grenades.
In addition any enemy unit within 12” must test for difficult and dangerous terrain each time they move.
Brood guard 60pts
As the brood spreads across a prey planet its’ ability to maintain the synaptic web becomes harder as more brood creatures are spawned and the higher function creatures are spread thinner. As such it plants brood guards across the global. Most are defensive creatures, designed to attack any nearby prey-things, however some are bred to have synaptic connects and to control the brood creatures in the area to repel any intruders.
5 brood guard. Each brood guard must be deployed within 8” of another member of the brood
Each must take one of the upgrades listed below.
Synaptic relay +5pts
Twinlinked shatterfire cannon with sky fire +20pts
Devourer hive +20pts
Brood guard

Synaptic creature, shadow in the warp
Shatterfire cannon

Devourer Hive

Thought?
I know some options look overpowered, but I was trying to balance fluff with not having any allies.
