6th Edition 1500pts list C&C

Hey guys, been looking over your forum for some time and finaly have something to contribute... (I think) lol

Anyway recently picked up my nids again... think last time was back in 2006 lmao.
Sorry, as for my article I would like some C&C on a 1500 pts list I have put together taking into account the new rules etc.
This isnt to be super competitive, but still be able to pull a few wins lol, I mostly play Tau, Orks, SM, SW and DE (doesnt matter what I do they will win so ignore them) lol

Thoughts are as follows.

Flyrant + Gargoyles : They will move 12" per turn (minimum for Flyrant) to maintain synapse and fearless. With the adrenals they will gain S4 on the charge and with 3 attacks a piece (hammer) thats 60 attacks hopefully glancing vehicles to death As for troops 60 attacks is overwhelming especially with "blinding poison" special rule (Is that right?) They flyrant with dual TL devs will do his thing

Gaunts + Tervies : I know your all thinking "wheres your damn pods man!?" But I will footslog my devilgaunts (hence the number) and bubble wrap them with my other cheap gaunts, while the tervies spawn endlessly (I hope) and cast what ever psych they get on them selves or gaunts.

Venomthrope : Yes your right, It doesnt fit into my list at all... However once people realise how deadly Devilgaunts are they will soon make them a priority and with Ap6 removing saves the 5+ Cover will prevail for a turn or two... lol. He will be screened off by a tervie like so...

Laid it out and it works or fits rather, its never been play tested as im still buying models and painting and i refuse to play with greys lmao.

Looks solid overall. A couple of thoughts;

Have you tried running 40 gargoyles before? They work well, but the footprint is HUGE! You may find it difficult to keep you HT behind them and have him be maneuverable enough to do what you want with him.

I'm not a fan of the one venomthrope idea. It just seems like you are asking to give up First Blood to your opponent in every game. He is a valuable piece of synergy worth devoting firepower too so its not a big deal to shoot at him. At best hell be getting a 5++. I know you plan to screen him from LOS, but that may be harder than you think in actual play. Give it a go, but be sensitive to how often he gets popped on the first or second turn. Getting night fight on the first turn will help a lot, but thats only in half the games.

I really like Scything Talons on my Tervigons. The reroll ones is huge, especially since you seem to be relying on them for anti vehicle operations.

Consider finding points for Old Adversary on your HT. With him shepherding gargoyles you could get a lot of benefit from the ability.

On the Gargoyles, I like toxin over adrenals but it depends on the percieved use. If you will be using them to surround and glance vehicles then go adrenals, otherwise toxins are my suggestion. Of course, both are best but that is quite a bit more points.

Most of the points needed to make the changes needed could come from just reducing the number of gargoyles by a small amount.

I think hammer of wrath specifically says unmodified strength. (keeps coming up every time I charge with a monstrous creature, I'll check when I post this)

I don't pod devil's either. It's rare that people shoot at them until they are close, I prefer the ability to keep them in synapse all game rather than suiciding them. And dropping 20 into enemy lines outside of synapse is in fact suicide. 5 die and it's a leadership check for game. Not worth the unit, I would prefer letting them attempt their shots at it, not get nearly as many kills, then deal with all my threats as they come in together. Not having the spore, in a way, increases their survivability because they aren't usually a worthy target at range and they won't break from combat.

Ok had a wee look over and I understand your worry about first blood... I forgot about it

SO had a wee revision and I will drop the 5++ in favour of more Gargoyles and split them into 3 units. Yes I know its a HUGE footprint but thats good I will be using them for surrounding tanks and glancing to death.

Wisdomeyes1: Thank you, I re-read the rule and you are correct Ini 10 attack "base" strength. So tanks will have to deal with 32 attacks and troops 48 attacks per squad

I have revised the points into more gargoyles (trying to keep nids fast moving) also on your OA point I would much rather not sink any more points into an already over priced unit that will be the target of most high Str weapons
