Cover and Prime/Fex Deathstar units

How would cover saves work for a Prime/Multiple Fex Deathstar unit, under the new rules?

In particular, would such a unit get cover saves from being screened by Termagants? Would it depend on the positioning of the Prime within the unit itself, or on the number of Fexen in the unit?

On a slightly related note--thinking about this, am I correct in assuming that running them in this formation (O=Fex, o=Prime, _=fixing layout)

, while using LO,S with the bottom Fex, allows you to distribute wounds rather efficiently when being shot from all (front and side) angles? Which is to say, the top-left Fex would take hits from that side of the field, and the Prime/bottom Fex distribute from the other side. This mostly stems from the realisation that it would "only" take ~12 Krak missiles to take out the Prime if he would stand up front by himself. This formation would allow you to absorb shots from one side of the board using the top-left Fex. Not entirely sure if this would be better, but just throwing this out there.

Note that I don't have the new rulebook yet, so I can't really look up how any of this would work for certain; just going with what I've read online.

Cover is entirely worked out on a Model by Model basis now. Any Model that is 25% or more Obscured, or in Area Terrain* is in Cover. Exactly what Save that provides depends on what's in the way, there's a lot more variety in Cover Saves now.

*The Area Terrain bit doesn't apply to Vehicles, but does to MCs.

Probably not, but--can models now be obscured by other models from the same unit? Which is to say, given the above formation, would the bottom Fex count as obscured by the Prime if he were to take a LO,S hit?

Same Unit is still ignored for LoS purposes.

Well I think that now it is done model to model and at 25% it is a lot better than before. It stops people from getting cover saves on every unit by one screening blob or hiding 50% behind trees, but at the same time it makes it easier to get at 25%.

Yeah, I was afraid you would say that. Thanks for clearing that up though.

Considering this, it might actually be a better idea to just put the Prime up front and have him take all incoming fire (-LO,S), given that he's a lot easier to get cover for..

But the Enemy can choose to Focus Fire, and only hit Models that are out in the open. Best to try to maintain full Cover, which is much easier than before.

But, you only need 25% cover from *one* firing model, which also makes it easier.

Plus, the way LOS is currently written, you can 'deal' out the wounds. The unit gets hit 10 times, roll to wound against T6 (majority), take 4 unsaved wounds. Prime is closest, so you LOS one wound to FexA, then LOS the next wound to FexB, and take 2 on the Prime. (So you can Regen them).
