Hey guys, sup?
Even though I haven't bought the the new rulebook yet, I'm sort of considering getting back into 40K with the new edition. I haven't played in years, but I'm getting excited again. Having played Nidzilla during 4th, I'm trying to come up with a list that won't force me to invest a crapload of money into new models. Anyway, here's what I've come up with. I probably won't be competing in any real tournaments, but I'm wondering how viable you'd think something like the below list would be for semi-competitive play.
----------------------------------------
HQ (365)
----------------------------------------
Flyrant 260
2xTL Dev
Wings
Tyranid Prime 105
BS/LW
Devourer
Regeneration
----------------------------------------
Elites (380)
----------------------------------------
3 Hive Guard 150
10 Ymargl Genestealers 230
----------------------------------------
Troops (355)
----------------------------------------
10 Termagants 50
4 Warriors 140
Scytals
Deathspitter
Tervigon 165
Scytals
----------------------------------------
Heavy Support (650)
----------------------------------------
Ninjafex 220
AG
TS
Spore Pod
2xDevilfex 430
Regeneration
Which resolves to 1750 points, right on the nose. Some thoughts on this:
- Flyrant and Tervigon both take Biomancy over their default powers.
- Tyranid Prime joins the Devilfexen to make a regenerating Deathstar unit (Undeathstar?). The idea is to put the Prime up front, then play tricks with LO,S and Regen to ensure the unit stays on the table. This idea was inspired by some posts I've read here, so I don't want to claim originality for it. It sounded awesome though. Lashwhips to discourage charging into the unit (especially with Prime standing up front), and ensure Fexen get their attacks in if they do get charged.
- Warriors provide back/mid-field synapse for Hive Guard, and sit on an objective.
- Ninjafex gets dropped behind enemy lines and is hopefully left outside of synapse to encourage Raging. This is intended to provide an Oh-(please do not swear) distraction from the rest of the force. I'm considering dropping the TS or AG for a gun on the Pod.
- Ymargl's go Dormant, obviously.
- Deathstar and Tervigon advance up the board, shielded by initial and spawned Termagants.
- Flyrant provides mobile support where needed. It also probably won't Deepstrike to encourage target saturation on the initial board.
- I sort of want Hive Commander on my Flyrant to ensure Ymargls and Ninjafex come in early.
So, yeah. Thoughts and C&C are very much welcomed. Also, in case I've overlooked something important that allows me to not do certain things, I'd be glad if it were to be pointed out to me.
