Question about Brood Progenitor

How do you assess the 6" conferral of Furious Charge/Poison?

Is it that Gaunts who launch their charge while within 6" of the Tervigon have FC in the eventual combat, and Gaunts who are actually in combat within 6" get the Poison?

It is the final position of the gaunts when fighting. So after the move, and pile in you measure the distance. If within 6" the FC or Poison is conferred.

Ah, dang. I guess that explains why I never used that combo in my 5th edition lists.

I generally like to cower in the midfield cover with my Tervigons, and my regular opponents like to turtle against me and stay close to their deployment zone. So if my Termagants make it to combat they're generally fighting further than 6" from the T-gon.

Pretty much. Its only good for having your units get charged. The big reason is the countercharge rule is also in place at that distance.

In 6th edition terms it's during each initiative step of the fighting sub-phase of the assault phase for Toxin Sacs and Adrenal Glands, but the charging sub-phase of the assault phase for Counter-attack.

Didn't the FAQ say somewhere that you test the range at the time you use the effect?

So for gaunts nearby, when they make their CC attacks, you measure the range then.

For counter attack, measure before rolling.

I generally run with my tervigon to get assault bonuses. Its rare when I dont.

Just going to add my question onto here since it's sort of relevant. With Brood Progenitor, let's say your Terv has TS. Is it each model of a unit that's within 6" (say 5 out of 20) would get poison, or is it if some/all of the unit are within 6" then the unit would get poison?

Its important too. It means you can have a "tail" of gaunts training behind, just so they are in range of the tervigon.

Agreed, it only requires 1 model from the unit to be in range for the unit to benifit.

So do what i do, cluster of termies with a tail of 2-3 gaunts going back so they trail to the side of the tervigon, as long as one is about level with the mid point of the tervigon base, even if it moves 6" (in edition 5) it was still less than 6" away. With charge reactions now only 3" you can have it up ro 2" infront of the tervigon (the trailing couple of gaunts from the mass) and then the 3" reaction still has you in range.

If its you making the charge, then you need the trailing couple gaunts to the side of the tervigon. But now with the 2-12" charge to be safe i would daisy chain to the back of the tervigons base.
base of gaunt is 1" with 2" gap between it means you need 3 gaunts to the side to guarentee the bonus. Main part of the charging unit starting 2 or more inches infromt of the Tervigon.

And way worth it. Getting 15 gaunts into combat is not nearly as scary as getting 12 into combat at S4 with poison.
