Surprising way to munch landraiders.

Most of us are now familiar with the Smash rule. Well I was going through ideas to update my army list for 6th ed and noticed that my tervigons still had crushing claws equipped.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but would that mean I could charge a landraider and get upwards of 6 strength ten attacks... (3 normal halved to 2 rounding up + 1 for charging + D3 for crushing claws)... Lets not even throw in the possibilty that the tervigon may have warpspeed on it for an additional d3 attacks.

Yep, that is exactly how it works. We were talking about it in another thread yesterday.

6 attacks, 3 hits, 2 pens and you have a 1/3 chance of killing it, 1/3 chance of doing 3 HP, and 1 in 3 chance of doing 2 hp and a minor results. Not really munching, but damaging, sure.

6 attacks results in 4 hits surely? On account of vehicles being max WS1 now. So you're looking at ~3 glances at least vs a LR.

Hmm are we not doing even more damage to land raiders (and every other vehicle) in assault?

I recall something under the assaulting vehicle rules that mentions glances are worth 1 wound, and pens are worth 2.

That's not quite right. A glance removes one hull point. A pen removes one hull point, and then you also roll on the chart.

2 pens at AP 2, which is a 55% chance to kill a vehicle outright.

Also, don't forget the preferred enemy now lets us re-roll hits against vehicles as well... Roll on the nomming!

Meh, a Carnifex with Crushing Claws, Adrenal Glands, and Instinctive Behaviour: Feed is going to have between 7 and 9 S10 attacks, hitting on 3+, and leave on the Scything Talons to re-roll half the misses... That's after the S9 AP- Hammer of Wrath attack.

almost, except it has nothing to do with hull points but rather combat resolution. a glance is worth one wound combat res and a pen is worth two wounds.
