Flyrant moving with hormagants!

Hello men... and maybe ladies. For me next game-o-40k I'm thinking that in the abscence of gargoyles i'll try to run my flyrant up with some hormies. Now, I was thinking, if i give him Old Adversary so that everyone is a beast in CC, as well as 2x brainleech worms, could he still shoot even though the hormies are running? since he has 12 movement that is??? I hope he can, but I can understand if it's technically the "squad/brood" running. What do ya'll think?

Just to clarify, even if he was an Independent Character, matching him with Hormagaunts would be a poor choice. A unit always moves at the pace of its slowest member. So he wouldn't be able to Fly more than 6 inches in the Movement Phase. Furthermore, a unit has to decide between Running or Shooting. You can't do both, unless you're Onsalughting them, and even then only the 'Gaunts would have Fleet whereas the Tyrant would not. Man, I really wish our Tyranid Prime could take Wings.

@ Inquisitor. That was the basis of my question, I wasn't sure if the flyrant (provided he was an IC) could shoot if the hormies run. But i see that it is the brood/squad the runs and even though the flyrants movement is 12" he still cannot shoot cuz if he was part of the brood he technically ran and i'm answering my own questions now lol

There's a better version of the Tyranid Prime with wings. It's called the Parasite of Mortrex.

But Pom is, what, 16X points, where a winged prime might be 11X or 12X?

X in this used to hide the last digit in the points value, and thus avoid a 'GW IP' thing. Used in the prime's hypothetical points for consistency.

Edit: Not to mention alpha warrior (which should affect Shrikes if Prime has wings). Prime should also be able to get a beast upgrade to run with ravvies.

So why would you run him with the gaunts? It's my understanding that when you run the flyrant with the gargoyles they provide him cover. What sort of cover would gaunts provide to a flyrant? Furthermore in 6th he deepstrikes so i really don't understand the point pf this...

@ reallysorry, notice i said "in the abscence of gargoyles." Once again i didn't know he was not an IC and figured he could join the gants brood and keep up with them. My original intent was not to give him cover but to run with them and own folks in CC.

Yeah, the nid dex only has two IC, Mortex, and the Prime. The prime is very useful, the Parasite of Mortex.... well he can be fun to play.

Also bear in mind that even if the Tyrant were an IC, he would be able to be targeted separately by shooting attacks as he's in a unit of non-MCs. Of course, Tyrant Guard have a rule to get around this, which is why it doesn't come up there.
