Yes, Mephiston is a special character. I'm not quite sure what he does but he is a special character.

Yes Mephiston is special and he is by far the cheesiest and lowest points uber char you can get. Think Eldrad the Cheese Maker mixed with Marneus Calgar. Watch for all his CC and shooting upgrades... and the force weapon.

You can download the blood angels codex from the main GW site in the errata section and look up his stats if ya want. He really is cheese personified...

Cheese? Really? I cant say I agree. Hes expencive and more importantly he is only usefull in CC where he is also very vunderable. The lack of invunerable save means he isnt too tought to kill....

Only slightly more than Eldrad and not that much more than a commander. Plus with wings he gets to CC alot faster an with a 2+save and Feel No Pain he can take a ton of punishment.. As long as no one aims a full HW squad at him he can shrug off almost anything. Just advance him next to an assault squad and they cant pick him out.

Mephiston's rules and stats are far better now, but the new BA list you play him in, sucks big time.

I miss the Good Ol' Death Company. BAs were my first real army... Of which I later burned the models in the Flame of Holy Terra.

BAs now are not THAAAT bad. It's just not as good as the darkies or templars

Hey, i had Flesh tearers. So the new BA list has killed my army. If i wan't to play with them, i have basicly to proxy BA's. And do you know why they've changed the death compagny selection mode?
Well, you've guessed it. Old BA (and even more for FT players) players rarely took bikes, termies, devastators, because there was a big risk of loosing a lot of points, if for exemple the sergent (without any upgrades) wich cost moreless 40, got abudducted into the DC. He was turned into something like a 28 points model. Points were lost that way.

But the new rule kills the potential risk, so old BA players can safely buy new models they don't already own(because they didn't need them at the time), like the new plastic termies, bikes, devs and the other big potential point wasting risks and give more money to GW.

And what's up, no fluff? Is that how you treat the sons of sanguinius? A little list printed in TWO WDs (and that's a other possible WD selling stratigie)!
The old dex wasn't perfect at all (that's whats fun), but the new dex isn't a move forward, but a sideway move. And one that's going to make GW potentialy earn more money (at least that's what they thought, when they made these changes).
So in the end , it's just a marketing stratagie.

PS: Talking about the DC. Oh, yeah like rending for everyone, conpensate for not having power weapons and power fists. I never new that ignoring armour saves on roll of 6 (one out of six) like a power weapon, was as good has always having a power weapon or having the possibility of killing big beasties with power fists. I must be dumb, not to understand the sheer genius that GW has put into spawning that list.
