Ok, I mentioned in a thread a while ago that I started a Kroot Merc force as my second army, which is developing reasonably, is just over 500 points. I've tested them and found them interesting, but lacking in a certain punch (admittedly, it was a 500 point game against Chaos, and I did kill a Slaaneshi sorceror). Now, I do like them and am going to continue using, but decided that the Evolutionary adaptations for kroot-only armies don't compensate for the lack of heavy hitters that they need. So...
I decided to have another army, which they will work as auxiliary forces for under the rules given in the Kroot codex. Players at my club were pretty much fine with this, we invent mad terrain rules on the spot anyhoo and no-one ever gets bitter over anything, so no issues there. I've decided upon Dark Eldar, as for some odd reason I'm one of the few people who like the way they look, in particular the awesome Raider. I've got me a battleforce and will expand upon this gradually.
Now, what I want to ask is this: Is this combination a good idea? I'm aware it will probably have isses with effectiveness, and I'll have to get a few more warriors to allow the Kroot to be fielded in my army at all, but I've made my choice and I like the appearance of them together and the bizarrity, as well as the challenge. General tactics will involve using the kroot to hold up enemies after infiltrating to allow DE to zoom in and pounce upon the confused foes.
What do you guys think, regarding my vague idea of tactics and choice? Feedback appreciated!
P.S. I'm also aware of a possible new Dark Eldar codex coming out soonish, and the 5th Ed rules may invalidate the Kroot Mercs entirely, if anyone has news on this please let me know.
