and the horribly drawn Carnifex on the cover of our codex.This. This has been bugging since I first set my eyes on the 5th edition codex. What's up with the two-and-a-half rows of spore chimneys? And why aren't the crushing claws even remotely close to being symmetric? And what's up with the tongue-in-tongue-in-mouth-Xenomorph-inception-thingy? I realise that they can't just re-use the previous codex art, but this Carnifex is just dumb looking compared to the one in fourth edition.
MOAR RANTING (also known as first-world problems):
- The Broodlord. What happened to it? Not only did its rules change for the worse, but its role was completely rewritten. From being limited to taking one of these, making it esoteric, dangerous and a cheap and powerful HQ choice, this guy is now merely a shadow of his former self. Rather than being the epithome of the Genestealer-strain, a lightning fast monster with a brilliant mind, this guy is hardly mentioned in the Genestealer bestiary (which, by the way uses a horribly drawn picture) and is no more than a fancy multiwound Genestealer-sergeant.
We are told that Tyranid psykers don't always draw power from the Warp, but when they do it's because Cruddace has to (please do not swear) somewhere. I don't mind the Broodlord no longer being a Synapse creature, brood telepathy makes it somewhat needless, but how is said B-lord able to draw power from the gestalt will of the Hive Mind, if he is not necessarily connected to it at all times?
A lot of good things can be said about the Tyranid Prime, other than the fact, you know, that he has no model, but really I would have liked to see Broodlord stay as a single HQ choice, perfect for vanguard-armies. Him having a retinue of super-stealers (could possibly be Ymgarls) was just awesome.
On second thought, I think I will create a new thread instead.
