Saphi stalks from the house holding her still half full mug out to the guard at the gate who accepts it with a questioning look as she takes off for the nearby town. It is a fast walk for her long legs and soon she stands before yet another check point. The guards here are more prone to slacking and howling at chicks and as she reaches the gate they look her up and down, “You lost girlie? What’s your name.” The guards draw near her chuckling and she smiles. She has friends much like these two. All men deep down are incurable perverts and one comes to a stop before her, “Your hair is lovely.” He says reaching forward to touch it. His hand is stopped by her Inquisitor ID smack dab in the middle of his face, “Saphi Markos. Inquisitrix, High Lady of the Markos Clan..” the guard steps back and salutes, “I apologize Lady I didn’t know.” She grins flouncing past him, “Think nothing of it.”
She comes to a hault before the town. The place seems to be infested with dirt, slime and all of the other things that come with working a mine. She smiles feeling at home more than ever as she stops a young man covered in dust, “Do you work the mines?” she says her most persuasive tone in use. The young man nods quietly and she smiles, “I am looking for anyone that might have survived the recent attacks.” His eyes dart about and clearly he has been silenced in such a manner. “It’s okay… I outrank your dear Govenor. No harm shall come if you are honest.” He nods, “Yeah Old Sye survived. Don’t kno how. Sunav-(please do not swear) is oldest man there. He came out with nary a scratch.” She smiles, “Take me to him.” He nods leading her off to the local cantina. He takes her to the table of an old man and she nods at him dropping some coin in his palm, “Thank you for the help.” She then seats herself waving to the inn keep who comes over, “Fire Ale and another of whatever he wants.” She nods grinning at the old man who squints at her, “Do my old eyes deceive me or is a young damsel sitting opposite me once again.” He smiles good naturedly and extends his withered hand, “They call me Sye Old Sye. You may find it hard to believe but many a young thing used to sit in that chair for my attention.” He chuckles again and takes a drink as the inn keep brings more drinks over. She herself laughs sweetly the first true laugh drawn from her pouted lips, “I believe it. A strong man who works the mines and is handsome as you once were is quite a draw.” He nods waving her compliment away although he is clearly flattered, “What do you want besides the pleasure of my company young miss.” She grins at him and plops down a datasheet with the picture of the beast just given to her by the governor, “You survived the attack. I need to know what I am up against.” He shakily accepts the sheet and draws it towards him squinting at it eager to make her smile, “Yes that’s the creature. Mean bugger too.” He gulps his drink shakily and looks at her once more, “You want to know if it’s a Tyranid Don’t you.” He nods in a dotty old man type way as she nods drinking her own drink and enjoying it, “I do.” He smiles leaning on his cane, “Why should I tell you. I am old and soon the dust of the mines will take me. But you are young lass and have much more to look forward to than dying in that must clap trap.” She grins leaning forward to whisper to the old man, “Old Sye is clever isn’t he. I am a Queen in my lands. If you tell me what I want to know I will take you with me when I leave and you will never work any harder than you wish. I will see to it that your last days are a pleasure.” He nods cackling and rubbing his palms together, “It was no tyranid lass. Least none I’ve ever seen. “ he trails off explaining he was once a guard and she listens pleased at the company of this elderly man finally he shakes her lovely hand, “Don’tcha forget your promise now child. If ya lie to the old may a great curse be yours.” She stands nodding and leans in to give the withered miner a kiss on the cheek, “Thank you Sye. I will not forget. I have already contacted my cousin. A stormraven is on it’s way for you as we speak.” She waves to him and begins to engage in a game of darts that she will not lose.
