A few questions about the board

Sorry, I wasn't sure where to put this!
I have a few questions about the board layout, and couldn't find a "thetyranidhive" specific help page. Please direct me to it if there is one, and ignore all the following questions!

1) I've noticed that I am now a"Tyranid Warrior" on the board, with 4 little yellow circle thingys. What does this mean? Does it reflect how long, how many posts, or just that in the eyes of the Admin I have achieved the 4th level of knowledge?! Would I lose a thingy for flaming, advertising etc?

2) What do the first column icons on the menu pages mean? Why are some folders on fire?

3) What do the second column icons mean? Mostly a blank page, but some have smileys, etc.

4) Why do some topics have a blue "New" box?


While I'm talking about the board, I think the "The Tyranid Hive Rules and Guides" could do with an update, particularly the common abbreviations: it looks like it hasn't been done since the new codex, as there is no DoM etc.

1. It's post count. For instance, I'm a hive Tyrant, with 6 stars.(?) Simply put it's member rank, but it's nothing special.
Take a moment to think about how much I contribute to Tyranid things for instance. And the only thing you can lose if you behave badly is some reputation among other members and access to the site for [insert time period here].

2. It shows whether it's a topic, a 'hot' topic (15+ replies or something like that), locked or moved.
There's an explanation of it at the bottom of the page. (maybe main page, but whatever, it's there)

3. They mean nothing, it's just things you can add to make the thread stand out a bit more, and in some cases what it's about. A question marked thread would be a question and stuff like that.

4. Because they have unread replies. If you click on the thread the "new" tag vanishes, until someone that isn't you have posted, and you haven't read it.

And in my opinion there's a lot of things that could be updated, removed, added, relocated and such. But it's none of my business. You can PM a mod or our Admin (The hive mind) and ask them to update those threads. (You can send them a list of new abbreviations to add.)

Hi Trygon, yes, 'tis me. I am now full of Skaven Counts-As-Tyranids, determined as ever to bend the rules to my own entertainment!
I hope you remember me as (Angry female) marines guy, not angry guy(with female marines). A few discussions got heated, and I was new to web forums at the time, so hadn't got the hang of internet sensitivity!
