A new look at the Dakkafex. This was my approach to solving the problem of running out of bits to work with, and the story behind the model is kind of neat, too.
He was originally a gunfex, back in 4th, but I never got to use him because I started just before the 5th ed codex came out. So then I figured I turn him into a tervigon, but as it was my first attempt, I failed completely, and ended up with a fex model practically encased in green stuff. It was sad. I put him on the shelf and didn't touch him for about eight months.
I recently freed him from his hard, green prison, and although he's not looking his best, he's turned out to be a damn fine dakkafex. Because of the texture on his back, I'm going to just make it part of his story that he's very old, and I'm going to name him Mossback.
The gun-hands are probably my favorite part of the model. I didn't know what to do with the other pair of arms because I didn't have any Scything Talons left. I decided to make them into walking-arms, making it look like he can bound up and down the field on four limbs. Then for kicks I added little hormagaunt arms to make it look like he had a parasitic twin or some other kind of weird mutation.
Basically, he's been around the block a couple times. Definitely my favorite dakkafex yet. I apologize for the lack of quality photos, these were done in low light conditions.
With the outstretched arm to the left, I'll probably have him tossing a guardsman or a marine to the side, once I get a hold of one.
