A while ago I had the idea of the Ultramar's Retributors, here's the fluff and the profile for a character and squad. Feedback (especially on the points values) welcome.
Over the last 10,000 years, more than one hundred Space Marine Chapters have been founded. However, over time some have become traitors and fled to the Eye of Terror. Still others have been destroyed by heavy battle losses or other disaster. One of these was the Sons of Ultramar, a proud chapter descended by Ultramarine Gene-stock. They fought wherever Ultramarines could be found. But while fighting in a deadly campaign against the Black Legion in the Eye of Terror, the fleet was destroyed when a radical inquisitor called Myrequiem sent them into the path of a great Daemon, for some unknown purpose.
The other half was trapped in the Eye of Terror, and for years drifted, searching for a way out. They were constantly attacked by Chaos pirates, but were finally found by the Grey Knights and the survivors, little more than 100, were rescued. Some of these were permitted to train and later join the Grey Knights but some chose to become crusaders, hardened by years of fighting chas, and may come to the aid of beleagured chapters, especially the Ultramarines, taking the name of Ultramar's Retributors. In return for their services they are granted wargear, and occasionally and most precious of all, gene-seed, with which they seek to rebuild their chapter, although at the current rates of reconstruction this will take more than a millenia. Their leader is the mysterious Deus Retributus, a hulking form in ancient and highly adorned terminator armour. Few outside the chapter can say for sure who he was before his sojourn on a crone world of the eldar, and none of those will say, but rumours abound that he was their master, others that he was just a fresh initiate who had his psychic potential increased vastly by exposure to the warp.
Taran was formally the captain of the 8th company, a tough fighter who took the Dealer of Retribution from a slain Champion of Khorne.
Rumours say that he was close to Myrequiem before his betrayal, now he is second in command to Deus Retributus.
