This about sums it up:
"Mayhaps you should have done the discreet thing and not pulled the hot shot trigger line then when you banned him cause it's not like that wouldn't get people's attention.
Also you probably owe people an apology which you've neglected to give.
Yori, I've always admired that you were the strong handed mod because every forum needs one but I think you have some power issues despite how much you do for the community and the experience you provide.
I know I know, how dare some green chauvinistic kid(essentially, I mean i still feel like a child even if I can buy booze) try to call you out.
Honestly I was somewhat okay with sal getting banned. He annoys me and is one of the two people who never responds to my posts even when I point out flaws in his "OMG I HATE NIDS" arguments(his opinion based points are valid, but he makes a lot of stupid claims that are kind of subjective or just false). The other member I'm talking about is actually an alumni from the college I attend(College of William and Mary). Sal's annoying a lot of the time, pretends to be intelligent under a banner of progressive socialism which the watered down views on the forum he's indicated as well as the (please do not swear) site's to communism he links at best are undeveloped unrefined views that need more reading(oh (please do not swear) aren't I cool for using smart person words, I should get a gold star or something clearly with my bad boy breaking the rules on an internet forum behavior).
Don't worry about the ban yori, consider this my resignation from the forum. The level of off topic here was harmless and I even inserted a comment at the beginning(FOLLOWING YOUR EARLIER EXAMPLE IN THIS EXACT SAME THREAD) to make it relevant before I went off topic(where you rag on WoW players before you actually mention anything relevant).
Get over yourself. I'm done posting on this forum, any looking at this forum I do will from now on only be to analyze the tactics section.
And please, show your level of maturity yori by deleting this post and still neglecting to apologize to the people you ragged on when we're supposed to be a friendly community.
Fireproof trolls don't need flame suits."
A brilliant human being, the one who typed that out was.

Seeing as Yori locked the Cataclysm thread because of the off topicness, I thought I'd bring the topic here. Thoughts on Sals ban?

Well, it strokes my modest ego by giving me further proof of how ****ing right I was to get this new, shiny sig.

Quite frankly, he deserved it. Yoritomo gave him plenty of warnings but Sal kept going on and on, he got banned from his own inability to shut up.

From what I could tell it was something about yori saying "warcrack", and salamut saying no drug references due to probored guidelines (means no DE then XD). Didn't seem like mod bating, just an inability with joke telling.

It seems to me that if we started banning idiots for being stupid a lot of us wouldn't be here. Yori is a mod, and it is a well known fact that Sal couldn't keep his mouth shut for love or money. (Something I admire but find terrible for most people.) Is Yori a little trigger happy, yes. But then one wonders if he would be so strict if the general crew knew how to behave themselves. I honestly feel for Yori with all the hate he attracts. I sometimes think he is like one big dad to this forum. (hated for his punishments and power but if he left or died this place would fall apart faster than a depressed emo.) Will I miss Sal here? Not really. I found him often negative and his opinions were rarely very insightful or useful. I like him as a person but when it comes to Tyranids, I can do without his constant hating. I suppose it helps I can talk to him on Newgen if I desire. Now onto the politcal agenda that is obviously here. You lot should be ashamed of trying to create drama over this. Sally knew he had to walk the line and he happily didn't. I don't see how a thread like this one is at all useful when Sal can't even read loving good-byes from people not on Newgen. What is it with you lot and gettign such a queer pleasure out of this kind a (please do not swear)?

Trigger happy??!!??
Do you have any idea how many warnings and PMs and temp bans Sal blew through? And still he felt the need to try and poke at the Mods, Yoritomo in particular. Most boards would have seen him gone a *long* time ago.
Sal was not banned for what he said on one thread, it was for a long history of doing such acts, and continually trying to push the line anyway.
Sorry to see Ryshi go, but if he agrees with the ban, and didn't like dealing with Sal... I am not sure I understand his issue.

fair enough.
I didn't know enough of the story to make a guess based upon anything but what I have seen.

I believe Psychic Hobo summed up the general... shall I say "feel" of the ban with this:
"It's like someone shooting someone and being on parole, then jaywalking and being shot for it."
And looking at it all, that's a very good analogy.

So the lesson is:
If you 'shoot someone' and are *still* given a second (third, fourth...) chance, maybe you should be on your best behavior. Instead of still seeing what you can get away with...

You know what makes me mad? The fact that I can't win. I ban someone who by his own admission admits that he should have been banned no less than three times. People are up in arms because I banned him.
Nevermind that he had a dozen warnings. Nevermind that he's been temp banded for this behavior at least twice. Nevermind the fact that he had a final warning covering exactly what he posted, and a follow up to make sure that he knew it would be permanent. No, somehow none of this justifies banning Sal.
If I don't do what I say I'm going to do then what happens? When I say something do you honestly think I'm not going to follow through? Especially given how you guys apparently see me?
Speaking of which, I don't know where you get this idea of me. With the exception of people who try to sell things on this forum I've had a strict 3 strikes policy. Sal was no exception. In fact, Sal is the first person I've even banned because of breaking the rules and disobeying the moderators. That's one in what, five years of moderating? I guess that makes me trigger happy.
But that shouldn't come as a surprise. Everything bad or any decisions people don't agree with are attributed to me. Like the Warcraft thread. I worked a 20 hour shift yesterday. I never got a chance to look at The Tyranid Hive, yet somehow I managed to lock a thread.
I have been honest in all my dealings here. You can ask any moderator her, anything I've done has had sound reasons behind it. I have never intentionally abused my power as a moderator. Nor have I ever been on a "power trip"

You know what makes me mad? The fact that I can't win. I ban someone who by his own admission admits that he should have been banned no less than three times. People are up in arms because I banned him. People are up in arms because your irate... all the damn time. All the damn time. This is a damn hobby website, that grew an interesting and interested broader community. Try having some fun once in a while. Doesn't really matter if you banned Sal. What does matter is that it looked petty. Backs up old opinions from those who underestimated your annoyance with Sal. If I don't do what I say I'm going to do then what happens? When I say something do you honestly think I'm not going to follow through? Especially given how you guys apparently see me? *Facepalms so hard it threatens to cause cranial detonation* well, I suppose we would expect you to do the things you say you're going to... we also expect you to do a million things you've not said your going to do without conjecture or warning. We used to not... but now we do. Probably the borderline troll constant anger, the one shot locks, the refusal to listen and deleting the whole general board without any warning. Probably. I have been honest in all my dealings here. You can ask any moderator her, anything I've done has had sound reasons behind it. I have never intentionally abused my power as a moderator. Nor have I ever been on a "power trip" No need to tell us you're honest. That becomes apparent when a newbie makes the slightest mistake... such as "Use templates on necrons". Mods should have authority, not power. The difference makes all the difference in the world, it would seem. Forgive me if I'm "out of line" but bloody hell, I'm running out of ways to articulate this.

Hey Danger, no need to get snippy at Yoritomo, he did what he needed to do, and I agree with the ban. Sal got out of line a lot, was almost always negative or said nothing useful, now true it is sad to see someone go but if you don't follow the rules this'll happen to you. And I don't know why everyone is still mad at Yoritomo? So he's locked thread, big whoop! If you people know anything you know those WERE off-topic and almost every other thread was GOING off topic, they were locked because they no-longer had a point and were now a jumbled mess. Now I am not hugely familiar with how Mods are... but I'm pretty sure thats what they're supposed to do.

... Goodbye, sal?
No, if I felt a need to tell him goodbye when he ain't really gone I wouldn't make a thread for him on the forum he was banned on.
That is all, now say goodbye to Salamut even though he can't read it. Or find him on Facebook, and tell him goodbye. Or this thread's purpose is only about bashing Yori? Well then! *bash*
Cheers!
