here is a thread about races and characters or een regiments that dont live up to their stories. That special characters backstory a lil hyped up, didnt quite live up to your expectation? post here!!!
My first is to do with high elves but more particularly the blind elf Eltharion.
for those of you who dont know him, he is the greatest blademaster in Elven history, tortured by the Witch King Malekith he escaped and led an army across the sea to defeat the Dark ELves and their leader Malekith, all the whiel blind.
ELtharion is the greatest swordmaster ever trained, he can deflect arrows with his blade and take on entire regiments of any warrior, he and his brethern have taken on chaos knights, orcs, dark elves and all other invaders and more than once he has been the only survivor, often taking half of the enemy with his own blade...
Now for my experiences
Game 1: Eltharion , despite abilities to dodge and deflect arrows is shot down by goblins in the third turn
Game 2: Eltharion is killed in the first round of combat by black orc warlord scoring 4 hits and 4 wounds, overkill... even though he has dodge and swifness special rules
Game 3: Eltharion, unlike the story of him defeating entire regiments of dark elves solo, has his regiment decimated by Malekith and his dragon, then is cut down and gobbled up by the Witch Kings Dragon, one woudn inflicted back
So much for elven warriors beign the finest trained in the old world, and so much for eltharion beign the greatest blademaster ever, pansey elf thins.... pffft
And while im on here you mayaswell here about my disappointments with Archaon
Archaon, Lord of the End of Times, charges at the front of his mighty army agaisnt the foul orcs of the misty edge mountains. As the callvary of each side colided with force Archaon found himself taking on an entire wolf rider unit by himself, while hsi knights charged into a regiment of orc boar riders and the marauder horsemen were cut down by goblin wolf chariots. As the wolves surrounded Archaon, he swung at the beasts and their green skinned riders with his mighty sword, blood splattered and sprayed as wolf and goblin fell motionless with howls and yelps. After one round of combat he had slain three goblins and two wolves and had decapitated all spears thrusted at him, the goblins rank with fear turned tail and fled. Archaon pursued them upon his daemonic steed but ffound a far more challenging and worthy opponent....a Giant
Archaon Charged his mighty demonic steed, blade screaming into the giant. In a flurry of swings Archaon inflicted 5 wounds on the giant, slicing through the neck, down the arm, across the chest and down the stomach before driving his blade into the chest of the mighty giant. A kick from his steed toppled the dying giant and which way should it fall....
How fitting that the giant should have a tombstone as a weapon, it now reads "Here Lies Archaeon"
He inflicted 10 wounds in two rounds of combat and killed the giant before it coudl strikeback, yet chaos' chosen son was killed by a fallign giant, somethign he killed with ease
I thought the man who brought the empire to its knees would be capable of dodging a giant... who woudla thought.
