I lost with the Third Config to sephiroth00055 Swarm/zilla List and a necron list which contained celow-

Destroyer Lord, Warscythe, Phase Shifter.
20 Flayed Ones.
20 Warriors.
9 Wraiths.
8 Heavy Destroyers.

Well, I must say that it is a huge improvement! I really like the dreadnaught but I think that a good thing with 'naughts is to make it venerable, give it a heavy flamer, multi melta, and a drop pod with a Deathwind Launcher.
How to Use:
1) Deep Strike behind a tank or mass of armor 4+ or worse infantry.
2) Either cut a swath through the infantry with flamer or blast a hole in the rear armor of the chosen vehical with melta. This is good if you have some anti-tank stuff pointed at its front so it will get shot up either way.
3) Survive enemy phases. This is were it helps to be venerable. Extra armor could help to...
4) Charge the enemy infantry and annialate them with the power fist or completly trash another vehical.
5) Repeat steps 2-3 until nessacary, or until your favorite beastie dies...

I liked the third config best, as you can't go past a vindicator! The only thing I found odd was a master with nothing but a power sword...

I personally like Assault Marines for all of my tank hunting needs, but then I'm Black Templar and don't get Devastators . I would have to go with the fourth config, just because the bikes w/Meltas and the 2 Preds(more targets). It really is going to force the other guy to think about what to kill first. Bu-Bye IG tank company!

i dunno... it looks like you're trying to out assault some assault based forces.
maybe try switching out the Bring the Fight to Them and the CC-based tactical squads for more shooty guys.

that way, you're not playing into their hand... you're playing your own game.

plus, you've got lots of heavy weapons (of which i am a big fan)... so you don't want to let those big point-sinks do nothing while your targets are locked up in HtH combat... so, if you've got troops configured to "take the fight to them", it seems to me like you're pulling yourself in two different directions.

You asked me to comment, so I will. The reason I haven't, is because it will be the same things I said to your first two examples; and it is not up to me to make the decisions for you. You need to play what you want.

The two weaknesses with a Zilla list.... short range....slow.

So why do you keep fielding all this short range stuff??
Melta guns??
Vindicator?

And you don't field any speed.
CC units, but no way of moving fast
you drop the landspeeders from 4 to 1

What is the strength of a Zilla list?
Lots of T6 3+/2+ save monsters.
So why are you fielding so much horde killing choices?
The spinegaunts are not your biggest fear here.

Ignoring the flyrant, his initial list has 36 devourer shots, reroll misses, reroll wounds. You don't want anything to get within 24" of that until you have killed some of those. Anything that gets close before that, will disappear under the torrent of Nid destruction.

ANd the flyrant has more mobility than anything you field, so it can do whatever it wants

Dreadnaughts should be cool, but they're not. Too easy to die, and the assault cannon is only 24". If you get to shoot with it, it will be dead the next turn. Or at best, tied up in CC with a brood of gaunts.

With 6 TMC's, he has 24 T6 wounds. How do you plan on dealing with those? You have 8 lascannons.

Go back to the landspeeders. They are good for anti TMC, and great for anti horde, and they have the mobility you are lacking.
Get more AP3/2 stuff. Another dev squad,or a predator (though those get shaken pretty easy)

His swarm can be used to your advantage, since you can assault the guants, and he can't shoot you.

May want to check out jump infantry.

Basically, you have to be able to kill one HT and 2-3 Fexes by end Turn 3. Can you do it?

Just got started using VASSEL. A battle report is next on my list but, it probably won't happen for a week or two.
