hi all,
I'm currently stuck in a rut - my current army (Salamanders) is getting nowhere, it's sitting on the shelf and hasn't been graced by a paint brush for months....
Below are some alternate armies i've thought of and reasons i might decide on them - i need some help on deciding what path to follow with some reasons why.
Salamanders
These guys were my first love, they have some fluff which really appeals to me, some nice variants which reflect it and are easily recognisable on a tablefield. My one problem though is that i'm completely sick of the colour green - the main colour for the army... The poor little green guys have had the misfortune of bearing the brunt of my developing painting skills and really show it. I've more or less lost the desire to paint them but am unwilling to let them go because of the money and time i put into them.
Witch Hunters
They have some fairly neat fluff, more flame based weapons thasn most people would care to count and some really nice rules to go with it. I bought a squad as a kind of test and they turned out pretty well, i'm just not so sure whether i'd be prepared to paint a large amount of them. The Witch Hunter models do not really appeal to me but i'm sure with a bit of work they could turn out fairly presentable.
Tau
The Ta'u models have been some of my favourites ever since i first laid eyes on one - they have some fairly good fluff, not imperial but definitely not evil - and there rules can be devastating if used properly. Also i looked at forge world and some of the Tau ships (especially mata's and orca's) caught my eye - these would make a wonderful centrepiece to an army. My biggest concerns with the Tau empire is that several of my friends are intending to collect one and they have little to no close combat ability.
Ordo Astartes
These are my more or less home made Inquisitorial Order, they are based loosely on a cross between Ordo Hereticus and Ordo Malleus and have the sole goal of hunting heretic saints - or fallen angels. My Role Play fallen angel is based on this Order. The actual army would mostly be made of marines - with sisters, guardsmen and some really fun inquisitors thrown in for the fun of it. This army would be a lot harder to do as it would definitely require the opponents consent to use and would need some fairly hard work to get the rules down.
