Reducing Fexes

I find a lot of folks don't want to play against nid players. They whine and cry about the fexes and apparently there will be a fix to reduce our number of fexes to 3 at one time, rather than 5 which is the max limit I believe. Now it's been about a week or so since I played on-line and have been mainly campaigning offline, so maybe the changes already happened?

If so, how can nid players be expected to really win at annihilate games? Granted most people don't care for annihilate...but I'm one of the few that likes a good long battle. I come from hours-long Empire Earth games and a game lasting 30 minutes is almost a joke for me. I only played 2 DOW2 games that ended up lasting an hour and that's because usually my teammates quit out and I was left with the computer to go up against 3 enemies in annihilate and the comp doesn't quite grasp annihilation.

I hate that nid plays seem to get forced to go nidzilla in the end or whenever they get to tier 3. We all start out as swarms and then "upgrade" to fexes. Without their power un masse for annihilate I don't know if nids stand a chance at that type of game.

What are your thoughts?

I usually only use one fex at the end of a game, to boost the anti-tank of my units. I usually run a close-combat army with lots of hormagaunts and AG-Warriors. In my opinion, the fex takes up too much population cap for me to use more than one.

Do you have experience using Ravs in place of the carni?

I have tried Raveners a few times, and they do nasty things to all but the strongest units. Problem is, they die all too fast to shooting. It's like a Tier 3 Warrior squad, with higher damage and less defense, trading in synapse in favour of the burrow ability. They are nice, I simply prefer Warriors since I run lots of Hormagaunts. Plus, Warriors can actually damage vehicles.

I play annihilate a lot, I don't find it too long. Maybe my dad's just a noob though...

As for the fexen, I really don't need more than 1 (maybe 2 if I have a LOT of spare Req and Power) to wipe out their base, and ocassionally I don't even get that far before my final attack is all done. Fexen are useful for psyking out your opponent, you know, "omg it's a fexen haxhaxhax runaway!" while your waiting warriors/gaunts wipe 'em out. I just find fexen way too slow for my liking, they only run when they charge, meaning that they can't keep up with my hormagaunt, warrior, tyrant core. They do keep up with zoanthropes though, but what doesn't?

I never use fexes. Infact, I'm probably the swarmiest guy in this game. I have found in this game that it requires players to save resources. Me, playing other RTSes, am used to spending resources constintly thus, I get gaunts (both types), rippers, one warrior brood and the Hive Tyrant commander.
