what is the best strategy for the dark eldar?

As far as I know (i do not know the DE well), there are a couple of good ones:
The Wych Cult (basically run all Wyches)
The Raider Rush (run a lot of Raiders)
The Web Way Portal Rush (the WWPs allow a lot of units that would normally come on in reserve move in much deeper on the board... i think. Like i said, i do not know them well)

Gah... that's such a horribly vague question.

I'm not that great with them, but from what I've figured, it's mainly to set up a list that works on synergy. You don't have numbers or good armour/toughness, so you have to make what you have count. So don't take stuff you won't need. Sybarites are an example of this, when you find they have access to quite a large armoury, you might be tempted to outfit them with a lot of CC badassery, but then they'll be expensive models with a 5+ armour save and 1 wound. Lances, on the other hand, may seem odd being only heavy, but you will want one in your warrior squad because you'll probably need that chance to down a particularly nasty vehicle.

With Dark Eldar, every unit counts, as you won't be able to field things en masse like guard, nids and Orks, as you don't have the leadership bonuses they have like commisars, synapse or mob rule. A few shots can send you running quite easily, particularly with small squads like jetbikes or hellions. So... COVER! Use it. A lot. You shooting is above par, and things like blasters and splinter cannons mean even on the move you can still give off a few volleys.

Raiders are both hard-hitting and weak. They get a very nice gun, dark lance or disintegrator - one's more for vehicles, the oher for MEQ armies. Since the raider has a ridiculous chance of dying, try and use these shots carefully. When you're using it as a troop transport, make sure it's safe from as much fire as possible, as it's stupidly easy to kill. And give it to the units that need it, like Wyches. Warriors don't really need it, though since they're no longer dedicated transports you can start them off with one and then donate it to someone later.

Basically, the general consensus is to hit hard and fast and destroy the factors of the enemy that would otherwise prevent you from recovering. Don't make the mistake I did of assuming once they're in combat it's all downhill from there - take out whole flanks, stall and occupy things if you have to, and make sure the right thing goes after the right thing. Wyches can easily down greater deamons and tyrants, but will have trouble against swarms that can overpower them.


Ok, that's the best advice I can give, but remember there is no best strategy for Dark Eldar - I mean, there's no best strategy for nids, as you can well see on the Tactics board here.

Dark Eldar competetive:

Wytch Cult and using a Portal. Generally 3 Ravagers and 3 raiders with wythes. 2 or 3 raiders with normal troops. The wytches and the ravagers are what kills things. Thats tournament DE

My top tip for playing DE is to never use GW's models. It's difficult to play 40K with your eyes bleeding.
