Crisis Suit Weapon Load-Outs

Sup, Hive Populace? Yes I know, I'm back but don't have a report just yet, but don't worry, I got something in the works that should make you cream in your pants when you see it ;D

But anyway, as some of you may know, I hate(ed) Tau. Well with Vth edition more or less out and the fact that I have about 1500 points just laying around I decided to pick them back up. I has been about a year since I have played them and this has given me time too think. My hatred for them has also, in turn, cooled down a bit.

So blah blah blah more history then none of you care to read so I'll get to the point. I want to start a Far sight army. I like his fluff and back round,plus he is the only Tau to have a power weapon,anyone seeing where I'm going with this? No? I'll explain.

With Far sight I get preferred enemy on Orks, sweetness. But my Warriors also get Bonding Knifes for free and I can make them look B.A.hehehe...conversions. Well getting back on topic. I went out and bought that set which came with 9 Crisis suits, 3 stealth suits, and enough drones to actually make me want to play them to see what happens.( aka 18 of the floaty buggers)

So I kitted out one squad, 3 suits, to be my deep strikers/tank-hunters. They have Fusion blasters,flamers,and a double coating of their spray on armor. The 'Vre even has a shield generator. Then I made the stanered Fire Knife config squad, missile pod and plasma rifle's+multi trackers. So I'm left with three suits.

And I have NO idea what to do with them. I have 2 of them built,one Fire Knifed the other naked, and don't know what to do. I"m a little, well really, worried about horde armies. I.E. Tyranids and Orks. Tau can't really deal with these guys, Orks yeah kinda Tyranids not so much...Well lets be honest, they can't.

So I come to the TTH and ask for wisdom, how should I kit out my last too guys? Should I go ahead and make them Fire Knife? Or should I give them other shooty fun things?

I played a 500 point game against Tau ith a commander that had the airburst fragmentation projector and cyclic ion blaster, and he was practically popping a hormagaunt squad a turn. And with blast weapon rules and upper-level tau BS, it'll barely scatter.

I need to stop posting things at 3am...

I'm going to get a Crisis Commander and give him the Ion blaster, but I tend to stray away from the Air Buster because it could scatter back on your on troops. Also,since I'll be running Farisight, should I maybe give them Flamers? OR maybe burst cannons...Wait..Burst Cannons suck..

Okay, so let me rephrase, should I give them Flamers and Missle Pods?

Zeewulf, your thinking of the upgrade that only tanks can get. The Crisis suit missle pod is assult 2 and can't shot around cover.

I think you'd be better off with a burst cannon than a smart missile system, you'll be wanting assault weaponry, not heavy weapons, they're about the same stats as they are. As these guys are planned to mow down troops, the missile pods' strength will likely be overkill, and not fire enough to put the hurt on a horde.

The one advantage of the smart missile system is that it doesn't require line of sight, so you could play around with impassible terrain.

That airburst fragmentation whatnot is a good weapon, the odds of rolling the scatter dice right into your own troops is pretty low in reality. Plus, it ignores cover saves, which is a definite kicker for horde armies that so heavily rely on it.

Especially since, well, tomorrow, cover saves will abound.

I normally don't see the point in having Burst Cannons on Crisis Battlesuits. There's nothing special about them. They're just more strength 5 guns in an army filled with strength 5 guns, on a model that has the same BS as every other model in the army. There is almost always another unit in the army that can fulfill that role for fewer points. Crisis suits should be reserved for the tasks that only Crisis suits can perform.
