I'm giving you a chance, believe me you'll need it. unfortunately due to time I couldn't fit in the research bit so it's coming up. Besides, you have said ypou'd talk to them if they're friendly, and these are the closest you'll get.
Anyway, carrying on:
The portal begins to light up as the address is dialed. Namier prays for a swift answer, as time is swiftly running out.
Finally the last chevron is engaged, and the portal burst open with its trademark splash. "open communications link with the Maange." Says namier.
"Link establised, you may speak."
"I am general Namier of the Alterans. I believe there is another way of saving our planet, but it involves information that you may have. I must know everything you do, and will attempt to plan some way of saving us all."
The gate closes, and Namier returns to his office, awaiting a reply.
An hour passes, and the head researcher makes his report.
"Well sir, it's not much more than we really knew already. Size and mass disproportionate, unfamiliar elements, except we've mnaged to pick up one massive lifesign this time."
"What is your theory as to the object?"
"Well, it seems that whatever resides in the star is fairly massive and powerful, almost certainly as powerful as the maange seem to think. The only thing is we just can't tell what the surrounding star is made of."
Namier thinks a while. Then comes up with an answer. "is it possible that the elements aren't actually elements?"
"You mean a trick, a projection?"
"Exactly. How would you hide yourself ina large cosmos? Disguise yourself as one of it's many objects. in this case a star."
"So what we're reading aren't actually elements, they're some kind of signal given off to project a solid object? Actually, that explains the huge difference in mass..."
"This must mean it is using a shield of some kind. Right, I want you to work on it immediately. Find out what frequency that shield works on, how strong it is and more importantly, how to get through it. If Geneal Prodigy can get hold of that data quick enough, his plan might just work..."
"Certainly sir, right away." The researcher leaves immediately.
A couple of minutes pass with nothing. Then, suddenly, the re-activation of the gate breaks the silence. namier dashes to the control room.
"Raise the shield, warn them of it."
The shield is raised, the warning sent. A minute passes and the learder of the Maange materialises in the gateroom.
"This had better be good Namier. Believe me when i say I am only here out of mere curiosity to listen to what you could possibly have to say."
"How did you get past the shield?"
"Holographic technology."
"Right, of course. You know the creature heading for the planet?"
"Correct. your point, Namier?"
"Well, you must have survived it's attacks before then."
"Exactly."
"How did you do it?"
"What does it matter? Soon enough we'll hand you all over to Him and we'll survive again."
"Right, sure. Thing is, if He's as powerful as you say He is, what's to stop him from killing everyone including you to get this planet?"
The leader thinks. "Hmm... well, we... er... well... ah..."
"Exactly. He'll kill yo all whether he has us or not if he wants this planet. Which is why we need to know how the Maange survived the last time He came. We'll give you whatever you ask for... within reason."
The leader ponders for a second."You make a good point. Fine, we will tell you. Somewhere in the Universe there is a being with power to match that of the great enemy coming for us. it is said that he came the last time the great enemy threatened the inhabitants of a planet, and defeated it. It is also said that still this protector waits for the next time he is needed, and will answer the call when it arises."
"Ok, any idea how to call him?"
"Yes. You and your alliance must all broadcast the same message simultaneously on the same frequency, 97.1 Hertz. Doing this will create a wave powerful enough to reach the protector wherever he may be. Contact him soon, and on the day he is needed he will come. We will be there to see it, with a few "precautions", in case things go wrong."
"Thank you, leader of the Maange."
"Now, promise me this. Once the battle is fought, we wish to relocate to another world. we have it picked out, and we can reach it through your Astral Portal. We cannot use our own, we cannot sustain that kind of power, but promise us that we may use yours. Promise us that."
"Certainly."
"Excellent. now, let the Houses of Namier and Aorb be united in the defence of this planet."
Namier hesitates. "Aorb...?"
"Something wrong, general?"
"No... Nothing at all..."
With that the hologram vanishes, and the gate closes.
"I must see the archives. immediately."
"Certainly sir, but what about the Maange idea? Shall we follow through with it?"
Do you contact the alliance and tell them of the plan, or do you not trust the maange enough to do it, and await the arrival of apparent doom?
