Toughness test

So I was looking through the daemon codex and notice in one part that it refenced a toughness test and have no idea what that means exactly. Could someone please explain that to me and where it can be found.

In the old CSM 'dex, Gift of Chaos (the power that makes them into a chaos spawn) required the target to make a Toughness test. It was a d6 roll, aiming for less than the toughness if you wanted to avoid being transformed. So that's my guess.

A test against any Characteristic except Ld consists of rolling 1d6 and comparing it to the target Characteristic. If you roll equal to or less than the target, you pass. If you roll more than, you fail. Exactly the same as Ld tests, except that Ld uses 2d6, and the other Stats just use 1d6.

It's mentioned in the Main Rulebook, somewhere pretty early on.

In a match against Daemons yesterday my Tyrant got turned into a Chaos Spawn. Of all the blewdy rolls I had to fail...

Yeah, though bear in mind the Chaos spawn spell is slightly different for Chaos Marines and Daemons (Daemons need no LoS or psychic test, and can nominate any target they wish, but the Chaos Marine version allows the spawn to engage the squad it was once part of instantly, making it a pain when used against Gaunts).

Talking o annoying skills, does anyone think that the Old Zogwart spelly-thing-'o'-doom that turns ANY indepedent charrictrar into a squige, a bit overr powered.

Not really. It's got a 50/50 chance of working, assuming he passes his Psychic Test first. A Farseer has better odds of getting Mind War to work most of the time, and is far harder to take out in return. Zoggwart's pretty vulnerable, and if your opponent is using him, that's an HQ slot that's not being used for a Warboss or KFF, or SAG.

Zogwart is a decent ork character. His power doesn't effect the tyranids much though since we only have one IC. Stick him in with a mob of boyz and he does quite well. With a big enough mob the chances of him failing his psychic test is slim. If you are a foot slogging ork army he makes a good substitute for a wierdboy. As for is it an overpowered spell, maybe but at least you get to roll a dice compared to lash of submission or other powers in which you get no save against.

Yeah, the Chaos Daemon's spawn spell drove me mad, since you can target pretty much anything with it in range. And stuff will be in range, since it's usually a great bloody daemon prince flying towards you screaming that happens to have it.

That Ork does sound like it can really hurt an army or do nothing at all... depends how you use your IC's, I guess.
