I have been working on a Data sheet in my head for a while now, and i just thought i would see what you thought of it:

Name:Gatling defense laser

Description/History:When the mining world of Gathious IV was attacked by a vast Tyrannid swarm, the defending forces of the Imperial were forced to retreat into a vast line of concrete bunkers know as “The Grey Wall”, each of which had a weapons dump, which contained 10 Las cannons, several auto-canons and a heavy flamer. The Guards men had held out for 20 days, of non-stop waves of Hormorguants, and Gaunts, when a young bright sergeant had a cunning idea. Using the knowledge or one of the Techpriests, he managed to exchange the Auto-Cannon’s barrel with the 10 Las-Cannons, and plugged in the Heavy flamer as a power supply. The resulting turret pushed back the Swarm, and eventually pushed back the invading forces entirely, just in time, for the Space Marine battleship to destroy the Hive ship, that had been supporting the attack. The sergeant was executed, for Techno-Heracy, but the these make shift wepons are still used by commnaders, in the most dire of situation, to save their men.

Speiclial rules:
The gun is operated by a single guard that can’t be killed, as he is safe inside a metal shell, on which the gun stands upon.
The Gun is immobile, unless it chooses the “Wheeled” upgrade, in which case it may move 6” per turn. The Gun may not fire, if it moved

If the gun is used by an Imprial froce, then one HQ my be desgnated as the commanding officer, and becomes fearless, as he know, that even if he sivives the battle, he will be exicuted as a Heritic.

Options
For 10pts, the Gun may become Wheeled

I like it, but the weapon is still a techno heresy (Like most of the good weapons...)
I think you should up the range to 60 or 72 maybe, and drop the number of shots to 8-10. Just my opinion though.

you are right about the Techno-Heracy bit, so i have jiggled aropund with the fluff, and the amount of shots.But the range was ment to represent the fact that htis is basicly 10 lascoannos stuck together.

What about making a real gatling cannon as a heavy weapon platform for IG?

And then make it able to jam due to the high rate of fire or something like that.

Something like a tl heavy stubber with heavy 8? And then make it jam if you roll 4 or 5 * 1 before rerolling...?

Something tells me this weapon would overheat!

Throw in Gets Hot! Except make it so that something can actually happen. Like it takes a S6 hit with Gets Hot!

Instead of Gets Hot! if you have the thing Hive Fleet Enigma said, call it Overheat or something, it might confuse less people.
