First, a little update on my "Marines fighting 'nids in the guts of a hiveship" saga.
I thought for a while about this before I actually began work, and considered what I really wanted out of the project. I think this is important, because if you don't plan ahead, you can wind up with problems.
First off, as I said, I wanted a reasonable looking hiveship interior, that would not be too expensive. I also wanted it to be modular, so it would be easy to put together and break down, and tough enough that I could take it to game stores, conventions, friend's homes, whatever, without worrying about my lovingly created ship fracturing.
So, what I came up with was fairly simple. My 'nids are done in a pink/purple/black color scheme. So I bought a purple bed sheet, used the pink spray on insulation suggested here (thanks for that!) to make the interior "cellular walls", and cut up some rounded but irregular areas of a mottled black cloth to lay here and there inside the ship.
In all, it is very simple, but pretty cool looking.
However, I would now like to take it to the final step, and give the thing internal organs for the marines to pulp with their heavy bolters and plasma guns.
If anybody remembers Space Crusade, here are the "organs" from that game:

Unfortunately, of course, these are just flat paper.
So, does anybody have any suggestions for how I could make 3d internal organs for my hiveship? Again, I'd like it to be relatively inexpensive. Note that they do NOT need to look like the Space Crusade organs shown in the picture above. Anything that looks... well... "organy" would be fine. A plastic model of a human pancreas, spleen, or whatever would be great. In fact, I know that these are made for academic purposes, but I thought that they would be prohibitively expensive.
Thanks for any suggestions.
