Yep, Hordes minis are great minis - but be carefull with them - many of them have very small contact points - its mostly the more human models that suffer from this.
Also note that the entire range of minis is metal and they only have one pose - thus can make coversion a bit tricky

actually since i have a bit of experience working with these minis i will set a few myths straight...

1 - Metal minis are impossibly hard to convert.

this is a myth. I promise... they are harder to convert but the smart mini sculpters and manufacturers make them with lots of pieces to make them more workable and more dynamic. Typically the hordes minis don't necessarily NEED alot of work they are fantastic pieces that are delightful fun to paint... all you really need is to do some dynamic basing. That said interesting concepts that are possible are... adding armour plating (metal and chitanous) more spikey bits, my exotic looking wpnry... and since metal is not excessivly hard to pin you can change locations for arms and such. I will admit that the humanoids are harder to convert cause they are more static and solid... typically 5- 6 pieces as opposed to like... oh i dunno 10!

2 - this whole small contact area thing.

Wrong... usually and typically have small ball and sockets inside the models to make modelling easier and where they dont they have flat surfaces which you could model the piece there or move it to your taste with some GS

I will however note that there is a large necessity for gap filling with these minis, dynamic as they are... they dont fit perfectly. Eventually i would guess this to work itself out... but until then enjoy the game it is actually alot of fun... just dont bring the minis into GW... they are afraid of them.

@ j.dogg - wondering if i knew you from dark legacy... Those things would rock for Khorne... note - Skorne/Khorne not to far off...

Those things look far too much like the Tyranids! They would be perfectly applicable for conversions!
