new Snow terrain board set (pic heavy)

Ok, I finally finished three of my snow terrain boards. Basicaly they are created the same as my mojave, jungle/forest, and city boards, see the tutorial on the main webpage here if you care h1.ripway.com/TheTyranidHive/Board.html . These are sheet insulation, 1 1/2 inches thick with a half inch board underneath for strength so i can cut channels into it, cut to 2' by 4' lengths and covered in an appropriate surface. In this case, each board has been covered with spackle to add a teeny bit of depth and texture, then painted in an extremely thick gooey layer of household primer and then white paint. I then covered this with bits of snow flock, baking soda, etc, and then sealed it completely with a clear sealer. One of the three boards has cracks cut into it, one has a small pond/stream frozen over, and the other has irregular, rolling drifts. So far i have a 6' by 4' ice table. Generaly i create a minimum table fast and then work with 2' by 2' sections for more detailed modular terrain.
I have also created sets of pine trees (found a great place to buy them, 20 for 14$ with snow), rocky outcroppings, and many large "iceberg" style hills etc. here's some pics (I added a lone roughrider and tank for scale):









A last note, I ordereda jar of "snow" base, it came as a sort of gritty paste you spread on. It is absolutely fabulous, dries to look like snow, with small crystals inherent in it. If anyone is interested in knowing where I got it etc, please PM me.

HAHA Zark! It is still a bit empty currently! I have 6 more snow drifts/icebergs drying in the background. Actualy looking at these pictures i now notice how badly the "creases" in the insulation board show up, oh well, still pleased with these! Matches my bases for my IG, so the Vanastien 5th and Colonel Jasmine Du'Gallantefinally has a home! <sigh> Of course I should finish painting my command squads now. . .

Pah get those flashlight wielding, cardboard wearing ninnies off this board But the creases dont look too bad, most people will be more insterested in the game at hand not some minor imperfection on the boar. Well look at it this way at least you will be playing on a board and not the floor or kitchen table

I wish I had a board like that. What materials did you use? I wish I had the space and the resources to make a board like that. The ice and snow would fit with the fluff of my Fleet vs my buddy's Swords of the Emperor^^

I like it, the river looks fantastic. A little plain here and there, but that can be sorted with a little more scenery. Overall a great board, nice work.

Haraio [MALAL] if you go to the tutorial on the main webpage (it is linked in first post and here: h1.ripway.com/TheTyranidHive/Board.html ) that is my tutorial on how I make my boards. Not too hard either. These boards cost 20$ for a 4x8 foot insulation board 1 1/2" thick, then maybe the same for the plywood underneath. Baking soda costs zippo, but a can of 3M spray glue and then clear coat sealer costs a bit more depending.
I am currently working on a 2 x 2 board that is nothing but craters, that was a good idea, thanks!
Do need more forests or terrain features, have a snow covered ruined instalation in the works, any other ideas?
I am up to 5 mojave style desert boards, all 2 x 4, 4 jungle/forest 2x4 boards and 6 jungle/forest 2x4 boards, and now these, we have 3 tables running in my garage every friday night! (its a huge 2+ car garage). Hmmm I will get pictures of all my boards up on another thread, to show the specific built in terrain of each if there is an interest?
