Problem with Zoanthrope model.

Yea. I just painted a couple of zoanthropes for the Aug contest. So I used them today. But I kept having this one problem. The model kept falling! And now I need to redo the paint job now because a lot of paint kept chipping off. I was wondering how do you guys deal with this. I thought of putting a coin under the model. But It jsut doesn't seem heavy enough. So got any idea what I should use?

use a matt varnish to stop the paint chipping (it also helps to use a spray primer).

also, put some weight into the bases (like some metal washers or something)

A block of lead lol. Remember how Zoans have loads of Flash? Put it under the base. Also, putting metal models as basing material works well. Or a bigger base.

A bigger base isn't a good idea... If I get assaulted i'm dead! Matt varnish is good. But the only thing is I hate the shine. And it make's the paint look like they'll never dry. Also I do use sprey primer. I do everything as recommended with painting. The thing is the black don't stick to the model. I'm going to try something with some random peaces. I'm going to put super glue all over it and sprey it with black. After it drys(hopefully). I'll throw it around see if the paint chips off(sounds good?).

That's why you want to use matt varnish as opposed to gloss varnish

Ive seen one with a base covered in brick parts and metal.
Bloody heavy though, i swear you could murder somone with that thing.

Well the real secret is to solve this before it is based. Make a heavy base with washers or something that you can then shape into a terrain piece that the Zoanthrope is then based in. I placed rockes on my Zoanthrope bases and modeled the thropes moving over and thru the rocks. not perfect but much better than before. I am a little confused as to why you think going up one base size will change CC that much. Every model but IC's within 2 " of the ones in base combat get attacks. I guess in theory this could add to the number, maybe adding 3 models to the 6 or so already attacking, I guess any little bit helps, but for me it rarely does, one fot hsoe first four guys in CC range has a power weapon or fist anyway. But i do understand if that isn't an option you want to go to. But there are good heavy washers that are roughly the size of a base and glue onto the bottom very easily.

washers and matt varnish would solve those problems ,and use the spray primer helps, i had the samne problem

Crimp weights for fishing can be glued to the base, and camoflaged with greenstuff and flocking to stabilize the Zoanthrope.
