Hmmm... I like where this is going. I wasn't big on the raveners so dropping them is no worries. I like the idea of reaction shrikes, maybe drop the raveners and then put my shrikes into 3 units of 3-4. This would allow me to get the whole unit in cover and have that flexibility to grab objectives mid game. So that would free up some points and balance out the reserves not needing as many ripper swarms. So how best would I use that 101 points?

I do really like that list, but I don't have a tyrannocyte... And the exocrine is there to help take out more mobile enemies. I played against Grey Knights and their StormRaven basically had its way with me. I don't like static nature of the crine, but the T-Rex just doesn't cut it unfortunately and I have 0 hive guard so I'm kinda stuck on that front.
Maybe I should just get a pod... Hmm...

Broodlord - Need another HQ and he's the cheapest that I own, can't be shot, beast in CC, good psyker, and might help out the stealers. Genestealers - Why 16? that's what I have the points for and hoping that at least 10 will make it past overwatch to get the bonus. Swarmlord - I don't like taking the guard for him, but can't really figure out another way to have him not shot off the table Top of turn 1. If you have a suggestion as to what to swap him with, I'm open! Assault - I have 5 things popping up so with the command point and with Swarmy slingshotting something in, I can get 3-4 things in pretty reliably. I know its a gamble, but still better than walking there and I don't have many gun beasts.

I got a tourney list I need to polish by Sunday and I need some help! Battalion +3cp HQ Swarmlord - 300 Broodlord - 162 Troops Genestealer x16 w/ scything talons - 192 Genestealer x16 w/ scything talons - 192 Ripperswarms x4 - 44 Elites Tyrant Guard x3 w/ LW & Sword - 117 Fast Attack Raveners x5, 3x Rending Claws & Scy Tals, 2x 2x Scy Tals - 121 Tyranid Shrikes x6 .... up to 194 points Spearhead +1cp HQ Malanthrope Heavy Support Exocrine - 228 Trygon, Adreal Glands Toxinspikes - 180 Trygon, Adreal Glands Toxinspikes - 180 Stealers go in Trygon tunnels. Rippers for objective yoinking, Malanthrope gives -1 to everything on turn one, Exocrine dakka, Raveners pop up. Got exactly half my army in reserve! 2,000 points. So here's my list, but there are some things I need some help with. I'm not 100% sure how to arm my Shrikes though. Right now I have 3 with 2x talons for fodder and the others with guns and bone swords. Not sure which guns to give them though. Don't know how to balance all this, should I make one Trygon a prime for more synapse? Drop a stealer or 2 for the points?

Sat back and thought about my list and my last game had a Storm Ravens flying around and there wasn't anything I could do about it. So I think an Exocine is needed. Tweaking my list again and I think I got it, I'm sad about not taking lots of Shrikes, but as I get used to Nids in 8th I'll try new things! Something to look forward to!
Battalion +3 cp
Swarmlord Broodlord Malanthrope
Genestealer x16 Genestealer x16 Ripper swarm x5
Tyrant guard x3 - lash whip and sword
Shrikes x6 3 with 2x talons, 3 with B's and devourer, adrenal glands
Raveners x5 2 with talons, 3 with claws
Exocrine Trygon - adrenal glands, toxinspike Trygon - adrenal glands, toxinspike
6 units held in reserve and I deploy 6. I can get all 6 in 3" of the malanthrope for turn one. Is that too much in reserve? Or is that a good thing as I can surround my opponent really easily, especially if they get first turn.

Okay, so I got to test this list out and made some changes. I swapped out the termagants for another stealer unit to go with the trygon. I like keeping them off the table for alpha strikes. Also helps with the bad touch tactic. Dropped the prime, he's too slow for Shrikes, I really wished he could take wings. So now I have 534 points to spend on Shrikes. That's about 16-18 of them but I'm not sure the best way to equip and organize them. I need at least 3 units for the detachment but other than that, I'm open to suggestions! Should I do MSU? 2 smaller one large? 2 big CC units and then one small one for objectives?
Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Okay, so while that list was okay, it doesn't feel like mine. But it gave me something to work off of. So here's my version. Termagants go with the trygon, stealers can go with the other one, but I can play that by ear. Mini death ball in the middle with the characters and tyrant guard.
Battalion +3 cp
Swarmlord Broodlord Malanthrope
Genestealer x16 Ripper swarm x5 Termagants x20 - devourer x12, fleshborer x8
Tyrant guard x3 - lash whip and sword
Trygon - adrenal glands, toxinspike Trygon - adrenal glands, toxinspike
Outrider +1 cp
Tryanid Prime - AG, bs, ds, fh, ts
Shrikes x5 2 with 2x talons, 3 with B's and devourer, adrenal glands Shrikes x5 2 with 2x talons, 3 with B's and devourer, adrenal glands Shrikes x5 2 with 2x talons, 3 with B's and devourer, adrenal glands
I'm just wondering if I should swap out one Shrikes for 6 raveners, thoughts?

So, something like this? Though I'm scared that we went from Codex TL Devourers to Codex Stealer Sling.... I do like all the Psychic powers though! 1999 pts, Battalion Broodlord - Catalyst Flyrant - Claws, Deathspitters, Onsalught, Horror Swarmlord - Catalyst, Horror 20x Stealers - ST 15x Stealers - ST Termagants - 10x Devourer, 10x Fleshborer Termagants - 10x Devourer, 10x Fleshborer 3x Tyrant Guard - BW+LW 2x Carnifexes - 2x ST, AD, Bio, Scythe Trygon - Toxinspike Trygon - Toxinspike I tried out a Nidzilla list. Rupture Cannon was terrible though Fleshborer Hive created a zone of fear. Throwing 48 dice at str 5 is scary. One good roll would devastate something. Took out more wounds off a Devilfish then the Rupture, Things were too slow, no idea how to get OOE there in one piece. Give him a personal Malanthrope? More hormagaunts? How, okay is swarmy without guard?

I have played 8th. One game against another person but I've had a few solo hammer games as I work out what to do with all my armies. It's worked for my guard, I'm getting happier about my grey knights, Tau is a head scratcher, it's my Nids that I'm feeling rather clueless about.
I could proxy, kind of a tease as I have no idea when I would be able to get the actual models though.
Trying to build a foundation of a list might be a good place to start. Sling shotting stealers seems to be the name of the game, so Swarmlord, Broodlord, and a Malanthrope with 20 stealers to start. I'm looking at what I have to take out super heavies and it's not much. Trygons? More stealers? Or even taking out any tanks or dreadnaught for that matter...

I HABE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING WITH MY NIDS AND I NEED HELP!
Sorry for being dramatic, but I do need some advice or guidance as I keep making lists and I'm not happy with any of them.
I've been playing Nids since 3rd edition and they're by far my favorite army. Miss the days of leaping warriors! I missed 5th edition because life happened and they were so lack luster in 7th I rarely pulled them out. So I think I'm really out of practice. I don't have a lot of the new models either. No crones/Harpies, tyranocytes, or even gargoyles, hive guard. It's really lacking in some interesting things, but I'm short on cash so I have to work with what I currently have.
I've made lists trying out different things, but none of them stuck with me. They all lacked something. Tried a Brigade formations with all stealers but that's a terrible idea as I would go second most of the time and probably get wiped out. I tried just tossing a list together of just the things that seems to be good so far (stealers, exocrine, hormagaunts, etc) but just turned into an incoherent mess.
I have two lists I want to try out but now I'm hesitant as I feel like I'm missing something. First is a nidzilla list in two spearhead detachments; flyrant, OOE, Malanthrope, 5 carinfexes, exocrine, 2 trygons, 2 T-fex. Would look terrifying and I would need to find an OOE, but might be good? I guess? Next is a warrior heavy list because I always wanted to do one! Malanthrope, broodlord, prime, two units of 12 dev-gaunts for the trygons, 18 warriors, 9 Shrikes, 2 trygons, t-fex. Picked a T-fex over an exocrine because the synapse is moving up but I guess I could leave 3 warriors behind, I dunno.
Here's a list of my collection, if anyone has any thoughts on my other lists or something I could do with the models I have, please let me know! I'm really lost.
HQs Flyrants x2 Swarmlord Malanthrope x1 Tyrant Guard x2 (This isn't even legal anymore.)
Troops Warriors x24 Genestealer x95 Broodlord x4 Termie with Flesh x33 Termie with Dev x21 Termie with Spine x25 Hormagaunts x107 Ripper Swarms x11 (I can make more if I can get bases)
Elite Zoanthropes x6 Neurothrope x1 Venomthrope x3 Lictors x4
Fast Attack Shrikes x6 (I can throw more warriors in here) Raveners x8
Heavy Support Trygon/Mawloc x2 Carnifex x2 Melee only carnifexes x3 (screamer killer conversions) Biovore x3 (could also be pyrovores as they're conversions) Tervigon/Tyrannofex x3 Exocrine/Haruspex x1

I haven't seen anyone talking about GKs at all. So an open question has any played them or against them? How are they holding up in 8th?

Yeah, should have fixed up the formatting, sorry.
I only have 1 malanthrope, formatting is screwy. But looking at this list again, I think stealers would want to go first, taking 2 rounds of shooting might be too much. They are still a glass cannon in ways. So having this many units hurts the list.
Hmm... Yeah I don't like it now...

Trying to work with the models I own, I've come up with this list. Might be fun to play. What do you think?

First off, a baneblade is a significant investment. Your opponent won't have too much left in his army after taking that. I'd do a two pronged attack with two units of stealers, Swarmy, and a trygon. The first part is to use Swarmy to catapult a unit of stealers into his meat shield. The goal here isn't to kill conscripts (though it helps). The goal is to lock them up and hopefully consolidate a few stealers into the baneblade. If you can consolidate into the baneblade your opponent has a tough choice. He can remain in combat (which is what you want), or he can fall back. Keep in mind that if the baneblade falls back he can't move through the conscripts. If you've locked up the conscripts then they can't move away from your stealers. This means that he will have to ditch his meat shield if he wants to fall back. That is the opportunity for your second prong to attack. The turn after your stealers assault you bring Mr. Trygon and his stealer pals onto the table. Is this the best way to deal with a baneblade? Probably not. But with your army comp I think you could make this work. Actually, the guard had 113 models on the table. You can't actually lock the baneblade in combat, it don't care. Steel Behemoth rule just says it can only fire its heavy bolters/flamers at enemies in combat with it, the other guns MUST fire at other units. And I would just leave my conscripts in combat with the stealers. I had a priest near by and with 'Fix Bayonets', each conscript can punch back 4 times a turn. And the dudes are still doing their job of keeping bigger stuff out of combat with the baneblade on top of keeping the remaining stealers in place. Probably run in with bullgryns to finish off the stealers if I wanted them gone! So no, that wouldn't work against my guard. ableNot taking things for it to shoot at would work, techically. Or hoping to get enough cover to hide the big stuff, but hide it for the whole game? Still don't have a good way to stop destroy it though. Nothing I can think of that you would take in a normal all comers list. 3-4 units of hive guard podded in to cover where they can't be seen and just pelt it for turns could work, but not so much against another balanced army... kinda... maybe... Yeah, playing around it is alright, but if you need to take it out, what can we do? Take our own baneblade, yes, the thought had already crossed my mind, but other then that...

Just had a solo game against myself, pitching my Nids against my guard. Trying out different things, getting used to this game, etc.
My guard has a baneblade and I just ended the Nids with it. Bubble wrapping it with conscripts with a Commissar to keep them there, it was pretty untouchable.
My Nids had swarmy, broodlord, 20 pack of stealers, haruspex, 5 carnifexes, rippers, guard, and lictors.
My guard was a baneblade, 2 sentinels, RoughRiders, vindicator assassin, and the rest infantry.
The baneblade just erased things every turn, it one shotted the haurspex with it's main gun alone. I hit it with 2 Fexes and the haruspex and got a whole 9 wounds off of it.
What do we have that can deal with one of those when it can one shot an exocrine from across the table?
