New player looking for advice

my uncle who plays warhammer sent me some of his old tyranids after i told him i was interested in the hobby, what should i add to the army that he sent me? most of the pieces were broken so i could only scavenge these:

x20 genestealers

x3 tyranid warriors

x1 lictor

x1 screamer killer

any advice would be super helpful!

Probably would have got a quicker response if this was on the general tyranid board, but I'll give you some advice.

First off this is a solid selection of models. Not enough for an army, but a good base. The most questionable unit here is the genestealers. They are not an easy unit to use and how good they are will depend greatly on how well your play and how poorly your opponent plays.

If I were you I'd run the screamer killer as a regular carnifex. They are about as productive and the fex will save you a handful of points.



The next purchase should be the rulebook and codex or rules cards. Can't play the game if you don't know the rules.

After that you should look into the vanguard detachment. It has some good rules and the stealer and lictor fit nicely into it. Look into filling that out next. If you're looking for generic purchases the christmas battle box is always a good value for general models. A hive tyrant and more gaunts are never a bad thing for a new player. Also hit up ebay. You can get some good deals on the leviathan box tyranids right now.
