Where to get the most recent point costs/rules

I looked on the community site, Im assuming to get the updated point costs there is a specific book I would need to actually buy, correct?

Any changes to rules are done in an errata or balance dataslates?

Next question,

Warhammer app has more most recent points and rules? Is the app a subscription thing or is that the army builder?

The subscription gets you the army builder, full rule book and all the previous edition codices. For current codices you have to buy the hard copy of the codex and enter the code in it online.

The army builder is a bit kludgey for something you have to pay monthly for and while I haven't spent enough time in it myself to verify there are still a lot of reports of mistakes and inaccuracies in it.

I have a subscription because it came with all the 8th ed codecies but that is less compelling at this point and it came with Warhammer+ which hasn't had as much content as I expected. I am uncertain if I will renew after getting my mini.

If the subscription came with digital versions of all codecies minus the fluff or something it would absolutely be worth it, but as is... can't say I'd recommend it for longer than a month to binge the content and then shelve it to wait for another year's worth of content to build up.

If you're looking for an army building app, I'd strongly recommend using battle scribe.

Im asking all these questions because I would like to get back into playing with a few friends (pretty sure I have played 0 games in 9th so far). I just like having physical copies of things if possible, but also where all the updated rules are as well in case I need to point out something that has changed. Ex: I would point to the balance changes for the new body guard rule.

Makes sense. The points updates are discussed above. If you're going nids only, then the points in the codex are accurate. Battle scribe is accurate most of the time, so for first games, I would recommend using it (double checking is nice but not 100% necessary).

1. The core rules (base rule book, the free download,
2. Whatever mission pack you want to play
3. The balance dataslate (big rules updates like bodyguard are here)
4. FAQs for whatever books you are playing

Not to necro, but I didn't feel I needed to make a new thread just for this question:

Are power levels updated as well as points in Chapter Approved? I recently watched a battle report with Death Guard and the player stated that Poxwalkers are 2 PL per 10 and you can put 40 of them into reserve for 1 CP. As far as I'm aware, Poxwalkers are still 3PL per 10 so 6 for 20. What am I missing here? And/or was there a change to how many CP it takes per PL for putting units in reserve?

I'm seeing that power levels were last updated in March, so this sounds like a blunder on the streamers part.

For strategic reserves, I'm not aware of any changes to how much CP is required.


As a note for the original thread, points values are now in a FAQ that GW releases for free.

Yes, I was aware of that. Was just confused where to found power level adjustments, if those are ever adjusted at all. I figured they wouldn't be, but what do I know?

Were the changes you mentioned in March something I can download as well? Can't seem to find it...
